MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Check out this beautiful snake! The speckled kingsnake is a common species in Louisiana and most of the southern U.S. Zookeeper Wade Jones says they’re known for their diet of eating other snakes. “These snakes have a resistance within their blood which allows them not to be affected by venomous snakes,” says Jones. “The speckled kingsnake, they’re pretty amazing; I always say if there ever was a good snake it’s a speckled kingsnake,” explained General Curator Lisa Taylor.
