Abstract Herpes zoster is usually recognized by its painful dermatomal eruption, although its motor complications are often overlooked. Herpes zoster–associated abdominal pseudohernia is a rare segmental motor manifestation in which paresis of the abdominal wall muscles produces a unilateral bulge without a true fascial defect.

Reversible macroscopic polarization in self-intercalated metals via spin-mediated magneto-electro-elastic coupling
Abstract Polar metals with non-centrosymmetric structures have attracted considerable attention; however, realizing and controlling macroscopic polarization remain major challenges because of strong electronic screening. Here, we propose that spin-mediated magneto-electro-elastic coupling in self-intercalated metals can effectively suppress screening, as the polarization is driven by short-range exchange striction and electron transport is further impeded by spin ordering.

Characteristics and influencing factors of demoralization in patients with lung cancer: A latent class analysis
Demoralization has garnered increasing attention in recent years as a significant psychological distress. This study aims to identify latent classes of demoralization in lung cancer patients using Latent Class Analysis (LCA) from a person-centered perspective and to explore the factors influencing the latent classes of demoralization. A cross-sectional study using convenience sampling was conducted among 567 lung cancer patients in three tertiary hospitals in China.

We have introduced and demonstrated a three-dimensional, multidirectional photodetector (PD) made of germanium for optoelectronic integration (OEI) systems. Building upon the fundamental physical principles of PDs, we focused on the design aspects of structure, dimensions, and doping. This led to the development of an integrated chip-level PD capable of discerning light from four different directions.

Molecular electronics promises multiple benefits over contemporary semiconductor technology. A single molecule with size of <1 nm can perform functions more complex than the smallest transistor crafted from silicon crystal by photolithography measuring tens of nanometers. Molecular switches, (1,2) rectifiers, (3) transistors, (4) memories, (5,6) and motors (7) can be produced cheaply in large quantities by well-established methods of organic synthesis.
