Network toxicology and machine learning analysis of MC-LR-associated hepatocellular carcinoma
Abstract Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), a hepatotoxic aquatic contaminant classified by IARC as a Group 2B carcinogen, was investigated using an integrated network toxicology and machine learning framework to explore potential molecular mechanisms underlying MC-LR-related hepatocarcinogenesis. By integrating GEO transcriptomic datasets, differential expression analysis, WGCNA, and predicted MC-LR targets, we identified 24 candidate genes potentially associated with MC-LR-related HCC.

Beyond Advance Care Planning: Facilitating Values-Based, Dyadic Decision-Making in Patients With Cognitive Impairment
Advance care planning (ACP) involves an ongoing process of communication and decision-making involving patients, their family members and representatives, and health professionals [1]. The goal is to elicit, document, and revisit, over time, patients' values and preferences regarding what treatments and interventions will be included in their end-of-life care, as a means of preserving the patients' wishes and dignity.
FlyTomo: a streamlined software for on-the-fly cryo-ET data processing and diagnosis
Abstract Cryo-ET combined with subtomogram averaging (STA) enables the structural elucidation of macromolecular assemblies in native environments. However, their widespread adoption has been limited by the labor-intensive, expertise-dependent data processing workflow. Here we present FlyTomo, a software that streamlines data processing from frame alignment to STA with high-throughput for authentic cryo-ET scenarios.
Dynamic evolution of higher alcohols from CO 2 on Fe 3 O 4 -Fe 5 C 2 -Cu catalytic interfaces with amorphous Ti layout
Abstract Selective synthesis of alcohols from carbon-based feedstocks remains a fundamental challenge due to complex reaction networks and competing pathways. Here we report a titanium iron ore material FeTiOx synthesized via a high-temperature calcination strategy that introduces amorphous Ti species into the catalyst framework.
A brief telehealth brain health program for family caregivers of persons living with dementia: the Brain Health for Me © preliminary efficacy study
Abstract Introduction: Family caregivers of persons living with dementia experience high stress, elevated rates of depression and anxiety, and an increased risk of cognitive decline compared to non-caregivers. Applications of telehealth interventions in the field of aging and geriatrics can overcome geographic and logistical barriers in the delivery of education and lifestyle support.

FeatPilot: Automatic feature augmentation on tabular data
Tabular data within enterprises or open data repositories provide a huge opportunity for feature augmentation. Using these data sources to augment training data often boosts model performance, which is crucial in data-centric AutoML systems. Recent works on automatic feature augmentation have limited capabilities in utilizing useful features that cannot be joined with the base table without connecting through intermediate tables.
Cryo-ET of IgG bivalent binding on SARS-CoV-2 provides structural basis for antibody avidity
Abstract The bivalent nature of IgG antibodies can enhance its neutralization potency against enveloped viruses; however, on-virion structural details of IgG bivalent binding with antigens remain elusive. Here we investigate how two potent IgGs P17 and S309 interact with S-trimers on the SARS-CoV-2 surface by cryo-ET. We find both IgGs exploit the mobility of S-trimers to form diverse configurations of S-IgG dimer-of-trimers, which oligomerize into higher-order patterns.

Compact full-field modulation of optical vector fields using a single digital micromirror device
The ability to generate complex optical vector fields with precise control over amplitude, phase, and polarization is essential for advanced applications in optical imaging, communication, and manipulation. In this work, we present a superpixel-based encoding method that enables full-field vector modulation using a single digital micromirror device (DMD).
Adaptive central moment descent for broadband scattered light manipulation
Wavefront shaping enables precise control of light propagation through scattering media by utilizing the knowledge of the scattering matrix. However, in many imaging applications where broadband light is employed, reduced speckle contrast and strong background signals significantly impair the performance of conventional phase retrieval methods.
Unveiling the role of cobalt in the product regulation for CO2 hydrogenation to light olefins over alumina-supported Co-Fe catalysts
Unveiling the role of cobalt in the product regulation for CO2 hydrogenation to light olefins over alumina-supported Co-Fe catalysts CoFe-based catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation reactions have been widely studied, but the effects of cobalt on the product regulation remains largely over-looked. In this study, a series of alumina-supported Co-Fe bimetallic catalysts that varying in cobalt doping were proposed for the direct conversion of CO2 to light olefins.

[Email #1] Hey Jas, Hope Singapore is treating you well! I know I promised to keep you posted, but I’ve got a halfway decent excuse—my head’s spinning. Feels like we just had elections, and suddenly it’s the end of January. Tommy added me to, like, a hundred Telegram chats. He assured me these are the only ones I need to bother with. Every time I open the app, I feel like I’m being pulled under. He insists I’ll get used to it. We’ll see.

Effect of whole body vibration therapy in the rat model of steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head
1 Introduction Steroid-induced Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head (SIONFH) is a skeletal disease with a high incidence and a poor prognosis (LIANG et al., 2023). Its debilitating effects could eventually lead to articular cartilage collapse and subsequent osteoarthritis (CAO et al., 2016). High doses of glucocorticoids are recognized to be major risk factors of SIONFH (IKEUCHI et al., 2015).

Recurrent graph optimal transport for learning 3D flow motion in particle tracking - Nature Machine Intelligence
Abstract Flow visualization technologies such as particle tracking velocimetry are broadly used for studying three-dimensional turbulent flow in natural and industrial processes. Despite the advances in three-dimensional acquisition techniques, it is challenging to develop motion estimation algorithms in particle tracking due to large particle displacements, dense particle distributions and high computational cost.

Electrostatic footpads enable agile insect-scale soft robots with trajectory control
Abstract Agility and trajectory control are two desirable features for robotics, but they become very challenging for soft robots without rigid structures to support rapid manipulations. Here, a curved piezoelectric thin film driven at its structural resonant frequency is used as the main body of an insect-scale soft robot for its fast translational movements, and two electrostatic footpads are used for its swift rotational motions.

Insect-scale fast moving and ultrarobust soft robot
Abstract Mobility and robustness are two important features for practical applications of robots. Soft robots made of polymeric materials have the potential to achieve both attributes simultaneously. Inspired by nature, this research presents soft robots based on a curved unimorph piezoelectric structure whose relative speed of 20 body lengths per second is the fastest measured among published artificial insect-scale robots.

Conductometric immunoassay of alpha-fetoprotein in sera of liver cancer patients using bienzyme-functionalized nanometer-sized silica beads
A conductometric immunoassay protocol was designed for sensitive detection of liver cancer biomarker, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), in biological fluids by using enzyme-conjugated nanometer-sized enzyme-doped silica beads. Initially, urease molecules were doped into nanosilica particles by using the reverse micelle method. Thereafter, the arginase-labeled anti-AFP antibodies were covalently conjugated onto the surface of the synthesized nanoparticles.
