SEATTLE — The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Wednesday it has filed more than 400 felony cases since 2024 related to criminal activity along Seattle's Aurora Avenue. The numbers were released after growing pressure from residents to address issues connected to illegal sex work in the area. "Neighbors are right, something has to be done. Seattle hotel workers could go on strike right before World Cup

SEATTLE — About 113 union workers at a busy hotel near Lumen Field could go on strike right before massive crowds are expected to arrive in Seattle for the FIFA World Cup, when more than 750,000 visitors are expected in the city. "This is when everyone is at the hotel, this is when it hurts the most to have a strike," said Hayden Eyerly, a front desk employee. The contract between the Embassy Suites employees, represented by Unite Here Local 8, and parent company Hilton expired May 31.

City of Seattle installs 'traffic calming treatments' to address violence near Aurora Avenue Original

SEATTLE — The City of Seattle installed four concrete barriers on side streets near Aurora Avenue on Friday in what Mayor Katie Wilson's office calls a "traffic calming treatment" to combat violence. The barriers replace homemade barriers installed by nearby residents after a series of incidents.
