BEVERLY — The Chicago Department of Public Health will spray insecticide through parts of Beverly, Morgan Park and Washington Heights Thursday evening after officials detected an increase in the number of mosquitos carrying West Nile virus. The spraying will begin Thursday at dusk and continue through the night until around 1 a.m. Friday, Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) announced in an email to residents. The work is weather permitting, and there is rain in the forecast for Thursday night into Friday.

White Sox ‘Pope Hat’ Night Features Sign Of Peace — And Some Notable Chicago Catholics

BRIDGEPORT — The White Sox hosted a papal-themed celebration at Tuesday’s home game — and prominent South Side Catholics were well represented during the ceremonies. The night included a “pope hat” giveaway that was inspired by the ceremonial “mitre,” a pointed hat worn by Catholic bishops, cardinals and popes. Over 40,000 pope hats were distributed to the sold-out crowd at Rate Field.

Beverly Theatre Guild’s Show ‘The Lifespan Of A Fact’ Explores Truth In Journalism

BEVERLY — Three Beverly residents and a native of the Far South Side neighborhood are behind the Beverly Theatre Guild’s upcoming production of “The Lifespan of a Fact,” which explores the distinction between truth versus fact. The play, by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell and Gordon Farrell, is based on the 2012 book by the same name co-written by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal. D’Agata and Fingal are two of the three characters.
