In theory, though, the higher the salary (and the contributions by the employer), the higher the maternity pay should be. The country formally offers mothers 100 per cent of the benefit calculation base for 20 weeks of maternity leave, and another 70 per cent for an additional up to 32 weeks of leave, according to Poland’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Poland distinguishes itself in that it also allows fathers to take parental and/or paternity leave. That’s the theory, anyway.
