This recent flood has been devastating. So many people have lost loved ones. Many have lost their homes. When tragedy strikes, we can even lose our faith. It was Wednesday, July 16, 1987. I was pastor at Southern Oaks in Kerrville and had been for two years. Previously, I had been a youth pastor in Fredericksburg, Boerne and also in Fort Worth. Many times I had taken youth to church camps and on backpack trips. I was preaching and teaching about the goodness of God every Sunday.

Stapleton’s field goal lifts Vista Murrieta football over Orange Vista

PERRIS — Sebastian Stapleton’s 29-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining completed a gritty comeback and lifted Vista Murrieta to a 34-31 victory Friday over Orange Vista. Stapleton’s boot capped a nine-play, 73-yard drive engineered by sophomore quarterback Bryson Beaver. Working with no timeouts, Beaver hit A.J. Jones for a 33-yard gain to open the drive, Sean McCullough for a 15-yard gain.
