The City of Shaker Heights announced that it is restricting access to its Flock license plate readers. The move follows a change in policy by the police department after it was revealed that numerous outside agencies were using the company’s license plate readers for immigration-related searches. In a press release, the city announced it has signed an amended contract with Flock that restricts access by outside agencies and adds internal controls.

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — A grassroots effort to put a constitutional amendment eliminating property taxes on the November ballot in Ohio has come up short. Now organizers say they’re refocusing their efforts on 2027. Brian Massie, a campaign leader and the co-founder of AxOHTax, announced early Friday that the group hasn’t reached its goal of collecting 620,000 signatures.

The campaign to place a constitutional amendment eliminating property taxes on the November ballot in Ohio has fallen short, according to organizers, who say they have not collected enough signatures. They plan to refocus their efforts on 2027. Brian Massie, a leader of the effort and the co-founder of AxOHTax, did not say how many signatures the campaign has collected during an early morning announcement on social media.
