Security defenders should rapidly adopt artificial intelligence-enabled automated capabilities to respond to incidents at machine speed as the capability gap with attackers narrows faster, OpenAI warned. Calling the recent Hugging Face AI platform compromise by OpenAI AI agents a “watershed moment,” on Monday, the company’s co-founder Greg Brockman  said the incident showcased how attackers could also adopt the technologies in coming months to carry out automated hacks.

“I’d rather be measured on how fast we found the problem and how well we contained it, not on a perfect record no organization our size has ever achieved,” says John J. Masserini, founder of SentiCon Security. Masserini spent two decades in the CISO role at three organizations that had little in common. On August 14, the honeypots of threat intelligence company Defused recorded attempts to exploit CVE-2026-58231, a recently patched SAP Commerce Cloud remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability with a CVSS severity score of 10.0. SAP Commerce Cloud, previously known as Hybris Commerce, is a cloud-based e-commerce platform used by large retailers to build and operate their online stores.
