Sunday School: Indiana
For something based in logic and absolutes, sometimes math makes no sense. Nebraska outgained the Ducks. They had ten 3rd down conversions to Indiana's one. The Huskers outrushed Indiana by a margin of 2-to-1. They had almost twice the number of first downs as the visitors. But in the end, the Hoosiers had the only math that mattered: 20 points to 17. And it all came down to three plays. Those three plays, all passes, totaled 162 yards. Practically half of all of Indiana's offense.
Sunday School: Maryland Original
An ugly day that ended with another victory sets up a "once-in-a-generation opportunity." It was ugly football. “Bowling shoe ugly,” as the great pro wrestling voice Jim Ross likes to say. Ugly, yet weirdly entertaining.* *If you could tolerate penalty flags. But it was also concerning. Twice down nine points, to a team that got mauled on their own home field and was alleged to have “quit” a week ago.
Sunday School: Michigan State Original
Nebraska's performance on Saturday was in stark contrast to recent Husker teams—in the best way. Previous Nebraska teams might not win games like this. Nebraska teams of recent vintage certainly don’t win these games by 18 on the road. But that’s what THIS Nebraska team accomplished on a sunny Saturday in East Lansing. The 31-13 win wasn’t without faults.
Sunday School: North Dakota
Sunday School: North Dakota It's okay to think bigger. It's okay to see more things happening positively. It's okay to expect this team to be in the upper half of the B1G. Oh, hello. I was just having an internal conversation and almost forgot I have a job to do. Don't get defensive. I wasn't talking to you. I already know how many people would react to such sentiments. "You're a fool. Don't you know Matt Rhule is still coaching. They do this every year.

Sunday School: Bowling Green Original
A non-competitive blowout had the Huskers posting big performances. “Bowling Green number so-and-so is now number whatchamacallit.” That announcement, made more times than I care to count, was about the only thing worth mentioning about Nebraska’s week 2 opponent. The game, which had been originally scheduled as Tennessee but cancelled due to needing more home revenue to offset stadium reconstruction, was about as competitive as watching a dog toying with a maimed rabbit.
Sunday School: Ohio Original
The first half wasn't pretty, but John Bishop isn't discouraged about what this Nebraska team can accomplish in 2026. “I truly believe we needed those things to happen. I didn’t need this to be 70-to-whatever.” A coach does not see a game like a fan. Until they are just a fan themselves, and even then, they tend to look at things through the lens of the man with the whistle.
Sunday School's John Bishop Makes His Season Predictions
Is this a good idea? Going game-by-game and predicting the entire Nebraska season without seeing so much as practice? Nope. Am I going to do it anyway? Yep, because that's what we do when we are filling the last week before the start of the games that matter. All games will feature the preseason point spread from Pearatings.com. The "Win Expectation" will be my opinion-based assessment of WILL, SHOULD, MIGHT, WON'T the Huskers win the game. We'll also give you a quick primer on each team.

Sunday School: 2026 Preseason Original
Hello there. And welcome back to football season! It has been a moment since I wrote this column. About fifteen years ago, Sean Callahan at HuskerOnline asked me if I wanted to write a Sunday postgame column. I think he came up with the title “Sunday School with the Bishop,” which we just shortened to “Sunday School.” A rather pretentious title, as there are far many others who could “school” you on the finer points of football.
'Can’t Buy Me Love': Materialism and Marriage
Recently, Grant Bailey, my colleague at the Institute for Family Studes, used data from the Monitoring the Future Study to look at trends of materialism among high school-aged teens over the last 50 years. Two main findings emerged. The first is that materialism is surging among teens in our culture, and the second is that materialism is now an equally shared life ambition for high school boys and girls.
Marriage, Faith, and Family: How JD Vance Became the Father He Never Had
A successful, Ivy-league educated dad reflected that when his first son was born, he realized something surprising that terrified him: “I knew exactly how to help my kid get into a good college but was woefully underprepared to make him a good man.” His own family background was dysfunctional to an extreme, which contributed to his malaise. Just what is it that makes someone a good father? This was a question this man found himself mulling over at length.

Precious times, precious memories: Annual Marlborough Lions Father-Daughter Dance is a must for many local dads
MARLBOROUGH — It was a special night for Brian Kerrissey. On the night of April 10 at Goodnow Brothers Elementary School, Kerrissey, a Hudson resident and foreman for the City of Marlborough, looked lovingly at his daughter, Rosanna. It was the latest edition of the Marlborough Lions Father-Daughter Dance. “It's our night. It's just her and me,” Kerrissey said smiling.

Letter to the Editor | Kaufmann wrong on violence problem
In a November 13 Guest Opinion, Jeff Kaufmann, Chairman of the Republican Party, asserted that “the truth is that the left has a violence problem” while generally declaring the Democratic Party responsible for political violence. Everyone understands and accepts that Republicans believe that “truth” has no relation to objective facts. For the rest of us who base our truth on facts, here they are: On Jan.

New Sebel Hotel with Italian food flair welcomed in Lower Hutt - Hospitality Business Magazine
By John Bishop The newly opened Sebel Hotel in Lower Hutt, the city’s only up market accommodation, is a warm place. The foyer is splashed with modern colours, bright blue, green and yellow, a colour palette which extends to the rooms and to Grazie, the Italian themed restaurant and café. Even the carpet on each of the six floors is striking shades of blue and black channelling the nearby Hutt River which meanders slowly through the city and past the centrally located hotel.

Late-in-life Adventure
by S.C. Merritt Hello. My name is Sarah, and I have no idea what I’m doing. Sometimes I feel like I need a support group for clueless indie authors. At the age of fifty-seven, I “accidentally” wrote my first book, and for the last two years, I’ve been on a mission to learn all there is to know about the industry. It’s been a roller-coaster ride, but a late-in-life adventure I never saw coming.
Wellington traffic planners hate cars in the city, don't they?
OPINION: The chaos witnessed and experienced every week day and every weekend by people trying to get across and around the city is much more than a zealous government or an out-of-control city council seeking to punish car users, although both are complicit in the plot. More fundamentally, there is a complete disjunction between the thinking of transport planners and car users.

0 Did they really need an organic cucumber that badly? This is why we can’t have nice things, kids. This weekend, a guest at Epcot thought it would be an excellent idea to get off a boat -— which was still in motion — on the Living With The Land attraction at The Land Pavilion in Future World. 10 Positive Lessons from 2020
It may be challenging to find the silver lining in 2020, but I have found some invaluable takeaways. People say, “you learn more from your failures than your successes.” If that’s the case, then 2020 made me a genius. We’ve experienced the Covid – 19 pandemic, high unemployment, social upheaval, economic downturn, national election chaos, and the upending of many social norms – such as holiday get-togethers, concerts, sporting events, going to restaurants, and vacations.

Another development plan for Wellington? I can't wait
Stuff asks Wellington residents what they think of their city. OPINION: Mayor Andy Foster says last Friday’s Economic Forum – two hours of discussion among a hundred handpicked business and community leaders – was just one step in the process to formulate develop a new economic development strategy for Wellington, one that will have links to the wider region. A new strategy is needed, he says, because the current one, dating from 2011, is out of date.
