Transcranial focused ultrasound modulates spiking, LFP, and BOLD activity in the primate thalamus
Abstract Transcranial-focused ultrasound (FUS) is a non-invasive neuromodulation technique capable of targeting deep brain regions with high precision. However, its mechanisms of action – particularly how it modulates neuronal activity and relates to fMRI BOLD signals – remain poorly understood.

White matter micro- and macrostructure brain charts for the human lifespan
|
Abstract The human brain relies on a complex network of connections to function, with white matter acting as the primary communication highway between different brain regions1,2. Disruptions in these critical communication pathways are linked to several neurological, psychiatric and developmental disorders3,4.

Anti-inflammatory treatment confirms rsfMRI and TSPO PET as biomarkers of functional connectivity and neuroinflammation in rat contusion spinal cord injuries
Abstract A cascade of biological responses to spinal cord injury (SCI), including neuroinflammation, plays a pivotal role in determining long-term outcomes and has become a primary therapeutic target. Riluzole, a neuroprotective agent, has demonstrated efficacy in preserving tissue integrity and improving motor function following SCI.
Twelve-Month Results From the CISTO Study Comparing Radical Cystectomy Versus Bladder-Sparing Therapy for Recurrent High-Grade Non-Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer | Journal of Clinical Oncology
ORIGINAL REPORTS Introduction Bladder cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the United States.1 Most patients (74%) are diagnosed with non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC),2 with the oldest median age at diagnosis, intensive surveillance requirements,3,4 high recurrence and progression rates, and one of the highest lifetime treatment costs of all cancers.3,5-7 How do patient-reported and clinical outcomes compare between bladder-sparing therapy (BST) and radical cystectomy (RC) for...

Cortical modulation of resting state BOLD signals in white matter - Scientific Reports
Abstract Magnetic resonance images of normal brains were analyzed in order to clarify the relationship of resting state BOLD signals in white matter to cortical neural activity. We quantified the degree to which spontaneous activities in the cortex, which are reflected in low frequency fluctuations in BOLD signals from gray matter, modulate corresponding resting state BOLD signals in white matter.
Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer Treatment Selection in an Emerging Treatment Era: A Patient Preference Study
Bladder cancer (BC) is among the most frequently occurring cancers and a common cause of cancer death, with an estimated 84,870 new cases and 17,420 deaths occurring in the United States (US) in 2025.1 Approximately 25% of patients diagnosed with BC have a tumor invading the detrusor muscle, classified as muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC).2 MIBC can progress to advanced (metastatic) urothelial carcinoma, which is generally considered incurable.3 For patients with MIBC, treatment is...

Machine Learning‐Based Clustering of Layer‐Resolved fMRI Activation and Functional Connectivity Within the Primary Somatosensory Cortex in Nonhuman Primates
1 Introduction Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the human brain has been used to investigate fine-scale structures, such as the cortical columns (Yacoub et al. 2007; Yacoub, Harel, and Ugurbil 2008; Shmuel et al. 2010; Zimmermann et al. 2011; De Martino et al. 2015; Goncalves et al. 2015; Tootell and Nasr 2017).
Outcomes After Early Pregnancy Loss Management With Mifepristone Plus Misoprostol vs Misoprostol Alone
Key Points Question How do outcomes differ when patients experiencing early pregnancy loss (EPL) receive mifepristone plus misoprostol vs misoprostol alone? Findings In this cohort study of 31 977 patients, management of EPL with misoprostol alone was associated with increased incidence of subsequent procedural management and increased emergency department visits compared with mifepristone plus misoprostol combination treatment.

TODAY’S CRISES ARE LIKE STORIES ON SNAP CHAT
TODAY’S CRISES ARE LIKE STORIES ON SNAP CHAT By John Gore When it comes to politics and policy, we seem to be living a Snap Chat existence. Compelling issues appear and then vanish, only to be replaced by a new problem or “crisis.” Anybody remember the ISIS Caliphate or the Abraham Accords? Some issues are one-day wonders, e.g. the impeachment of DHS Secretary Mayorkas.
Assessing White Matter Engagement in Brain Networks through Functional and Structural Connectivity Mapping
Abstract Understanding the intricate interplay between gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) is crucial for deciphering the complex activities of the brain. While diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has advanced the mapping of these structural pathways, the relationship between structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) remains inadequately understood.
A Brief History of the Battle for Downtown Boca
I moved to Boca in the fall of 2002. I bought a condo in Townsend Place, one of the first high rises built in the newly designated Downtown Redevelopment Area as defined by City Ordinance 4035. The Ordinance contained density and height restrictions, rules for open spaces and setbacks, parking, landscaping, and building design. It was a comprehensive vision designed to prevent downtown Boca from becoming like downtown Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.
