SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A red, white, and blue sea of fans packed Darby Road Pub’s outdoor watch party in Scotch Plains on Friday evening as Team USA decisively defeated Paraguay, 4-1, sending the crowd home happy. The pub’s “Ultimate Outdoor Soccer Experience” delivered on its name: supporters gathered in front of a giant 25-foot screen, with food trucks lining the lot, beer tents humming, and kids darting across the mini soccer fields.

In the June 5 church bulletin at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, there was an article about how the parish food pantry is running low on essential items and extended a plea to the Scotch Plains community for additional donations. “We are hoping our generous community can lend a hand,” the bulletin reads.
