Serving the HNW Market: How Financial Advisers Can Break Through and Deliver Lasting Value
America is minting "everyday millionaires" faster than ever before — 1,000 per day in 2024, according to the UBS Global Wealth Report 2025. But for many people, having a seven-plus-figure net worth doesn't necessarily translate into feelings of financial security. In fact, according to Northwestern Mutual's Planning & Progress Study, only one-third (32%) of American millionaires consider themselves "wealthy," and nearly half (48%) say their financial planning needs improvement.

Now's a Great Time to Become a Financial Adviser: Here's Why
This year is poised to move fast — and not in the way you might think. Dreams of professional mobility are making many people wonder about climbing a new career ladder. According to Gallup, the proportion of Americans seeking new job opportunities is the highest it’s been in the last decade. Meanwhile, people’s satisfaction with their current employer is at a record low. Moreover, employees’ expectations for their employers are rising.

Which Philly athlete has made the most money? Here’s the Top 10 career earners among current players.
Joel Embiid wrote that he wants to be in Philadelphia “for the rest of my career” when he signed a three-year extension with the Sixers on Sept. 20. If he plays out the duration of his contract, he will have been a Sixer for 15 seasons — and been paid almost $514 million. That got us thinking: Where does Embiid rank among Philly’s highest-paid stars in total career earnings? Even before the new deal kicks in, Embiid is among the leaders — but he’s not No. 1.

My guest for this week’s column is Marty Ingram. He is the author of Flood, Fire, and a Superstorm. It is a first-person account of experiencing Superstorm Sandy on October 29, 2012, in Breezy Point. This was to protect their equipment and personnel from the expected enormous flood. The fire was due to LIPA’s failure to shut down the power grid.

In Loneliness as a Stressor (9/9/22), I noted that 1 in 5 Americans report feeling lonely and 1 in 4 over 65 are socially isolated. Loneliness increases the risk of physical ailments such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, dementia, respiratory symptoms, premature death, stress, and inflammation. It impairs sleep and leads to unhealthful behaviors including the risk of emotional disorders, i.e., anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
