Community richness and composition can impact how an ecosystem functions, responds to disturbance and is resilient to climate change (Gaüzère et al. 2015, Barros et al. 2019, Aquilué et al. 2020). Point counts are a typical method for measuring avian communities because they are accurate, cost-effective and do not require specialized permits or equipment (Hutto et al. 1986, Ralph et al. 1995, Costello et al. 2000).
