M&A Guide 2026: Philippines
Navigating recovery through energy, reform, and modernisation The Philippine M&A market in 2025 operated against a more demanding backdrop than the year before. A combination of domestic and external pressures – including elevated global interest rates, US tariff uncertainty, a weakening peso, and the dampening effect of the flood control scandal on government spending – held overall deal activity below 2024 levels.

Making the Case for Test-Driven Development in Machine Learning
I bet you’ve been there — sitting at that table or attending that machine learning (ML) project meeting where an ML engineer…

My experience as an Algorithmics franchisee: an honest perspective
My journey as an Algorithmics franchisee was a mix of ups and downs, valuable learnings, and unexpected challenges. In this narrative, I share my story for those interested in the world of educational franchises. My journey with Algorithmics began intriguingly with an eye-catching ad that led me to a detailed landing page. The initial attraction was strong — the prospect of teaching programming to children aligned perfectly with my passion for technology and education.
About the PhD dissertation of Dr. Emmet Brown (just for fun)
Today I had quite an interesting chat with Mr. ChatGPT about Dr. Emmet Brown, a scientific eminence related to the quantum physics and time travel field. We chatted about Dr. Brown's PhD thesis dissertation, his life, and possible funding options. Here is an abstract of such a conversation.
Insight: due diligence and documentation for energy M&A transactions in Philippines
All questions Due diligence Due diligence on RE projects in the Philippines primarily focuses on the compliance of the M&A transaction with the nationality requirements (i.e., the 60–40 Filipino–foreign investor limitation under the 1987 Constitution and the RE Act).
In a nutshell: energy M&A in Philippines
All questions Overview In 2008, ahead of any other Asian country, the Philippines passed a landmark piece of legislation: Republic Act No. 9513, otherwise known as the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (the RE Act), which established the basic legal framework and signalled the aspiration of the Philippine government to transition its energy market to the increased utilisation of renewable energy (RE) resources.
How to frame a regression problem as a classification problem to account for uncertainty
Pros, cons, and a working example I bet you have been there: you have some data and you also have a target column which you are required to estimate using some ML technique. You name it: given some financial data estimate a price, some customer information estimate its lifetime value, and some mechanical information estimate wear or usage. This is a regression problem, the objective is to pinpoint the value of a continuous variable given a set of features. And here comes the interesting part.
Long and Wide Formats in Data, Explained
How to deal with them Pandas-style Tables are a two-dimensional, very used form of storing and preparing data, and this can be done in two ways: wide and long format. Each one has some advantages and disadvantages which I will do my best to describe in this post with some examples. So let us get started. TL/DR. It is better to use the long format for storing data and use the wide format at the very end of a data analysis process to reduce the data dimensionality.
Try this simple Routing and Auth approach for Streamlit
Streamlit is a useful tool to create and share visual reports using Python. The library does all the heavy lifting from creating a web server to building HTML components using simple Python commands. It is not a lie to say that you can have a Streamlit up and running locally in your browser using just two lines of code.
Dissecting the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments in Glioblastoma-on-a-Chip for optimized PD-1 immunotherapy
Abstract Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) checkpoint immunotherapy efficacy remains unpredictable in glioblastoma (GBM) patients due to the genetic heterogeneity and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments. Here, we report a microfluidics-based, patient-specific ‘GBM-on-a-Chip’ microphysiological system to dissect the heterogeneity of immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments and optimize anti-PD-1 immunotherapy for different GBM subtypes.
