Pathological calcium overload impairs skeletal muscle regeneration through sustained NFAT-dependent proliferative signaling
Abstract Skeletal muscle regeneration requires coordinated myoblast proliferation and differentiation. Calcium dysregulation is commonly observed in aging and disease-associated muscle weakness; however, its impact on myogenic progression remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the mechanism by which intracellular calcium overload impairs myogenic differentiation and muscle regeneration.
Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii among animal-associated workers and companion animals in South Korea
Abstract Toxoplasma gondii is a widely distributed zoonotic parasite at the human–animal interface. However, studies simultaneously evaluating animal-associated workers and companion animals remain limited in South Korea. This multi-regional cross-sectional study aimed to estimate the apparent seroprevalence of T. gondii and explore associated factors among selected animal-associated workers, shelter animals, and companion animals. A total of 259 human participants and 1259 animals were enrolled.
Evolutionary diversification of PDZ domains drives substrate specificity switching in LNX E3 ubiquitin ligases
Abstract How paralogous proteins acquire distinct substrate specificities remains a central question in molecular evolution. We reveal an evolutionary switch in substrate targeting between LNX paralogs, E3 ubiquitin ligases that mediate proteasome-dependent degradation of the cell fate determinant NUMB. In teleost fish and amphibians, Numb degradation is primarily mediated by Lnx2, whereas Lnx1 exhibits minimal activity toward Numb.
Naturalistic adoption and deliberate practice use of an AI-based OSCE platform during national licensure preparation

MIS-C Overlap, Not Prior COVID-19 Itself, Drives Treatment Escalation in Kawasaki Disease: A Nationwide Cohort Study
1 Introduction Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute vasculitis that primarily affects children younger than 5 years and remains the leading cause of acquired heart disease in this age group [1-3]. Although its precise etiology remains unclear, KD is widely considered to reflect an abnormal immune response to infectious triggers in genetically susceptible children [4, 5].
Intrinsic polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis capacity dictates ferroptosis sensitivity under restricted arachidonic acid availability
Abstract Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent type of regulated cell death driven by lipid peroxidation, in which polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in membrane phospholipids serve as key substrates. Here, we identify PUFA biosynthetic capacity as a key determinant of ferroptosis sensitivity under arachidonic acid (AA)-limited conditions.
Computational carrier dynamics across heterojunction interface between hole injection and transport layers in quantum-dot light-emitting diodes
Abstract Physics-based charge transport modelling is widely used to analyse multilayer optoelectronic devices. However, conventional drift–diffusion discretisation schemes can exhibit numerical instability at heterojunction interfaces with abrupt discontinuities in energy levels and doping density. In quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs), the heterojunction between the hole injection layer (HIL) and the hole transport layer (HTL) represents such a critical interface.
Incidence and preoperative risk factors for failed back surgery syndrome: a nationwide population-based cohort study
Abstract Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), recently redesignated as persistent spinal pain syndrome type 2, is a common complication after lumbar spine surgery, yet population-level data on its incidence and preoperative determinants remain limited. This study aimed to quantify the incidence of FBSS under multiple definitions and to identify preoperative risk factors for its development.

A Virtual Patient-Based Workflow for Mandibular Stabilization Using a Virtual Articulator and Digital Splint
1 Introduction Mandibular stabilization is a foundational element across occlusion-driven disciplines such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, and restorative dentistry [1, 2]. It serves as the basis for full-mouth rehabilitation, occlusal equilibration, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) assessment and therapy. By establishing a stable mandibular position, clinicians can design a functional and aesthetic occlusion on a reproducible occlusal platform [3-5].
Osteosarcoma cells promote intracellular iron detoxification to mitigate GPX4-mediated ferroptosis
Abstract Osteosarcoma is an aggressive and highly metastatic cancer that arises in bones. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death, is critically controlled by glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4). In this study, we characterized GPX4 and its upstream regulator xCT across five osteosarcoma cell lines (U2OS, MG-63, HOS, Saos2, and 143B).
Low-frequency ionic-electronic coupling for energy-efficient noise-resilient wireless bioelectronics
Abstract Wireless bioelectronics demand transduction strategies that are simultaneously sensitive, noise-resilient, and biologically safe. Conventional wireless sensors typically rely on dielectric capacitors with inherently low capacitance, necessitating operation at MHz frequencies. Such high-frequency coupling often introduces electromagnetic interference, tissue heating, and degraded signal fidelity in biological environments.
