More than 400,000 ballots have been tallied in Riverside and San Bernardino counties but a week after the Tuesday, June 2, primary election both counties are still adding up votes. The Riverside County Registrar of Voters has already calculated 422,468 ballots — 380,821 of them were mailed in, while 41,647 ballots were filled out in person. The county has a reported 1,436,283 registered voters.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Shrey Parkih will be starting a new school next year, but some classmates there may have seen him on TV. After four days of grueling competition, Shrey — an eighth-grader at Day Creek Intermediate School in Rancho Cucamonga — walked away with the trophy at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. In his third appearance in the national contest, Shrey racked up 32 correctly spelled words in 90 seconds.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... A San Bernardino County student has made it for the second time to the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals. Day Creek Intermediate School eighth grader Shrey Parikh, 14, will return Thursday, May 28, to the finals of the bee, where he placed third in 2024. He successfully navigated the semifinals Wednesday afternoon, May 27. Shrey was joined in the semifinals by fellow Day Creek student, seventh grader Abheri Sureddi.
