This week Zack Polanski’s Green Party launched its local election campaign, with its sights set on Labour’s flagship councils in London. Polling suggests the Greens are threatening Labour in boroughs like Islington, Lambeth, Hackney and Lewisham – long-standing Labour strongholds. Their pitch to Londoners leans heavily on the capital’s brutal housing costs. Private now average about £2,273 a month, while the typical London home costs an eye-watering £554,000.

Tenant Satisfaction Survey Results 2025: Record engagement and rising satisfaction highlight progress

This year’s national Tenant Satisfaction Survey has delivered encouraging results, marking continued progress for the organisation and providing clear direction on where our efforts should focus. The survey received a record number of responses this year and we will continue to improve our service through the feedback we have received whilst celebrating the positive outcomes. With an overall satisfaction score of 70%, CHP achieved its second‑strongest performance in seven years.

The homelessness strategy must tackle surging rough sleeping

New data released this week shows that rough sleeping surged to over 9,500 in July 2025. Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) analysis shows this is a 94 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2021. One of the most disturbing trends in this week’s data is the entrenchment of long-term rough sleeping. In September 2025, nearly 4,000 people had been seen sleeping rough for multiple months, an increase of over a quarter (28 per cent) since September 2023.
