10 things every Aussie needs when travelling in China
Words by Josh Ray for Escape.com.au 1. The “super apps” Nearly everything you do in China requires the “super apps”, namely Alipay and WeChat. You use them to pay for goods, order taxis, to tap on to public transport, to message accommodation owners, as a map, to find good places to eat – the list goes on. Everything happens on these apps. And you must have both. Before you leave home, have them both downloaded and set-up (upload your bank account, personal information and so on).

1 Portfolio construction specialist Vivek Anand examines the latest developments in global markets, highlighting the mixed signals that characterized the past week as weak U.S. labor data solidified Fed rate cut expectations while fiscal concerns and European political risks kept sentiment in check. Vivek analyzes the performance of DB's quant systematic strategies, particularly Portfolio 365, which remained essentially flat with a 9 basis point gain despite the challenging environment.

In recent years, telecommunications organizations have approached American Products to see if our team could develop solutions that would mitigate the chances of thieves breaking into the enclosures and stealing costly equipment.
Broncos Win Back-and-Forth at Mount Marty
YANKTON, SD. – The Hastings College football team set the tone early and ended up winning a wild high scoring affair 45-42 over Mount Marty on Saturday afternoon. This season, the Broncos’ defense had been doing the brunt of the work but it was the offense that exploded as it took just two plays for the Hastings’s offense to strike first. Carson Kudlacek connected with Ethan Wilborn on a 36-yard reception into Lancer territory.
Fergbaker pastrami bagel in Queenstown is the best thing I’ve eaten Original
Fergburger is a famed Queenstown institution. Even people who haven't been have heard of it. This is why I was shocked when friend and colourful Sydney personality, Stef Pasciuto, told me that he didn't really care much for Fergburger, and only visited once during his six week trip during winter. Instead, Stef opted for Fergbaker, the oft-ignored Fergburger subsidiary, as his eatery of choice.
Broncos Football Falls to No. 1 Northwestern
HASTINGS – The Hastings College football team took on NAIA No. 1 Northwestern as the Broncos fell 45-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders would take a 24-0 lead into halftime and then go up 45-0 in the fourth quarter before Hastings would finally get on the board. The Broncos took over on its 25 with Jager Shaddix getting the drive going with an 18-yard run followed by a 14-yard run moving into plus territory at the NWIC 43.
Hastings College Knocked Down by Briar Cliff
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Hastings College football team had been the comeback kids in 2023 but due to penalties and turnovers, Briar Cliff erased a 10 point deficit to knock off the Broncos 19-16 on Saturday night. After the Chargers took an early lead on an Aaron Okoro two-yard touchdown run, Hastings countered with 16 unanswered points in the second quarter.
The Widow’s Offering
It’s Tuesday. Jesus is drawing large crowds in Jerusalem and calling out the religious elite and their practices, making them feel increasingly threatened. While teaching around the temple courts, Jesus notices a poor widow in the Court of the Women. Against the wall of this court were 13 trumpet-shaped collection receptacles to receive offerings. These receptacles were open to the public to give offerings that would be used to help the poor.

2nd Circuit Upholds Dismissal in Case Alleging Broad Conspiracy to Fix Bond Prices
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Monday refused to revive a civil antitrust case alleging that a contingent of banks had agreed to fix the trillion-dollar market for bonds backed by foreign governments and multinational institutions.
De-Stabilizing IPOs: Didi and Robinhood
Initial public offerings can be successful (often) or unsuccessful (less common). But rarely can they destabilize an industry or imperil a fast-growing sector of the economy. Yet, that may have just happened, or be about to happen, in two long-anticipated IPOs: Didi Global, Inc. (Didi) and Robinhood Financial LLC (Robinhood).
UK government should confirm that NFTs are "works of art"
Recently, digital artist Mad Dog Jones became the most expensive living Canadian artist after his self-replicating nonfungible token (NFT) was sold by boutique auction house Philips for $4.1 million (after bidding was opened at $100 just two weeks before).
ONE WOMAN SHOW
How do you follow an act like Ken Campbell? A master raconteur who could weave the most intricate and hilariously surreal narratives, he was also a cosmically-charged director who constantly smashed the boundaries of theatre. He embodied a Pan-like presence who’d thrust people towards realising their true genius (albeit, often traumatically), and, most importantly, he possessed an imagination so powerful it could turn myth into truth.

Manufacturing smart products without smart people?
Everyone wants to be on teams that break new ground, like the teams at Zipline, a company that builds pilotless aircraft that are used to deliver vital supplies, such as medicine, to locations that previously were inaccessible. Zipline’s founders say its business model requires modern technology that enables them to design and build the drones with limited resources, which keeps costs down so buyers, such as the country of Rwanda, can afford them.
Review: Hover Junkers is the Future of First Person Shooters
Hover Junkers could very well be the best gaming experience on the Vive right now and a glimpse into the future of competitive first person shooters. If you’re looking for that FPS tournament VR mayhem, Hover Junkers will scratch that itch. Before we get to the review, it’s important to know that VR is the wild west, every game developer big and small is pushing to make VR the Next Big Thing. While Oculus dominated the press, HTC is the platform with the ultimate VR games.
Build: ASUS 980 Ti Silent VR-Ready Mini PC
With the imminent arrival of VR, one of my missions is to track down the smallest possible PCs that pack VR-level hardware. Of course, “VR-level” is a moving target. To use the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, one needs a GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290 graphics card. You can also go SLI, though SLI isn’t supported in VR. At least, not yet, but it’s coming. Check out our Kimera Cerberus review and SLI Build and for more virtual reality news and deals, visit Newegg's VR Central.
The Cyberthreats and Trends Enterprises Should Watch in 2016
Every year, Verisign iDefense Security Intelligence Services produces its Cyberthreats and Trends Report, which provides an overview of the key cybersecurity trends of the previous year and insight into how Verisign believes those trends will evolve.
How to Choose a Cyber Threat Intelligence Provider
Throughout the course of my career I've been blessed to work with some of the most talented folks in the security and cyber threat intelligence (CTI) mission space to create a variety of different capabilities in the public, private and commercial sectors. Before I came to lead the Verisign iDefense team about five years ago, I had to evaluate external cyber-intelligence vendors to complement and expand the enterprise capabilities of my former organization.

This is our beginner's guide to the HTC Vive hardware and part of our ongoing VR Coverage. Read about PC system specs. HTC’s Vive Pre powered by a ZOTAC 980 Ti PC landed at GameCrate for a full day of virtual insanity, from shooting zombies to painting bowties on snowmen. VR is real and it’s here. If you're new to VR and find the assortment of hardware confusing, don't worry, you're not the only one. Let's take a look at the full arsenal of equipment.
ZOTAC Goes VR Ready, Steam VR Box In The Future?
ZOTAC showed off the game-changing Vive VR demo in their penthouse room at the Caesar's Palace during the CES insanity. I arrived late so I had the entire place to myself to run around in multiple virtual worlds to my gaming heart’s desire. PC VR is the future. Seriously. You hear everyone say VR tech demos are amazing, but now VR games are mind blowing in ways that have never been correctly done before. Shooting zombies in VR is absolutely the best zombie/shooting experience ever.
Custom PC: Darth ABS Rig
Newegg’s ABS team of master hardware maniacs put together this incredible custom PC with a slick black/red Darth theme. We can’t legally call it a Star Wars PC because, ya know, the Disney/Lucas Star Destroyer filled with helmeted lawyers. But let’s be real, this thing screams Sith. What’s red and black and force sensitive? The Darth PC, that’s what. The case is the In Win S-Frame with Emperor’s Royal Guard burgundy accents.
First Look Review: Acer Predator X34 G-Sync Monitor
Acer asked if we wanted to take a look at the new Predator G-Sync 34 incher before it was released. I don't think we've said yes to a monitor faster. Once the X34 arrived and was extracted from its oversized box, it was abundantly clear the Predator is just a step above the competition in the construction and design department. Those legs? Solid metal. No screws or a detachable base, the entire monitor is one giant piece. Which means one giant box.
In Focus: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard
The new ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard landed at GameCrate HQ and there's no doubt this will be a very popular mobo for Skylake gamer builds. ASUS is making overclocking easy with its AI Suite 3, as well as a super slick BIOS with a whole host of features.
Up Close with Corsair DDR4 Dominator Platinum
Corsair just dropped off the new 16GB Dominator Platinum DDR4 Skylake package at the GameCrate home base and I just had to crack open the box and pop it into the new Gigabyte X170x Skylake motherboard. Expect the top DDR4 assortment of goodness from Corsair -- 15-17-17-35 timing, 1.35v, 3200MHz, XMP 2.0 support and more -- check out the full specs here. Fingers crossed we'll get the rest of the gear to finish a monster Skylake battlestation in time for Black Ops III.
Understanding the Threat Landscape: Basic Methodologies for Tracking Attack Campaigns
The indicators of compromise (IOCs) outlined in my last blog post can be used as a baseline for developing intrusion sets and tracking attack campaigns and threat actors. When launching an attack, threat actors use a variety of vectors and infrastructure, which Verisign iDefense analysts — as well as analysts across the cybersecurity community — correlate to group attacks, tracking actors and determining attack methods.
Understanding the Threat Landscape: Indicators of Compromise (IOCs)
I previously provided a brief overview of how Verisign iDefense characterizes threat actors and their motivations through adversarial analysis. Not only do security professionals need to be aware of the kinds of actors they are up against, but they should also be aware of the tactical data fundamentals associated with cyber-attacks most commonly referred to as indicators of compromise (IOCs).
Understanding the Threat Landscape: Cyber-Attack Actors and Motivations
The threat landscape has rapidly expanded over the past few years, and shows no signs of contracting. With major establishments in both the public and private sectors falling victim to cyber-attacks, it is critical for organizations to identify the motivations, modus operandi (MO) and objectives of adversaries in order to adequately and effectively defend their networks. Understanding the taxonomy of cyber-attacks is the first step in preparing an organization against exposure to them.
