I grew up on a farm just outside Portland, Oregon, where, from a young age, I pedaled down a country road to get my family's Oregonian each day. Newspapering is in my blood.

I attended Saint Mary's College of California, where I was editor-in-chief of the campus' weekly paper, The Collegian.

In school. I miss how palpable it felt to hit the keys and feel the ink punch the paper.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Clark Kent. Sorry, but it's hard to beat a journalist by day, super hero by night.
