Former Arkansas State Trooper decertified after investigation into 2023 drug arrest

A former Arkansas state trooper has been officially decertified almost three years after he was involved in a controversial Lake Village traffic stop. At a decertification hearing Wednesday, Christian Walker Morphis said he arrested a woman for a crime she didn't commit. In 2023, Morphis said Amanda Prince pulled cocaine out of her pocket while detained in the back of his car. An internal investigation later proved the allegation was impossible.

Lawsuit alleges Arkansas State Trooper planted drugs on suspect

In October 2024, the Arkansas State Police got a civilian complaint. A woman named Amanda Prince had been arrested about a year earlier. She said the trooper who arrested her violated her civil rights and framed her for drug possession. The complaint sent State Police Lt. Marcus Daniels into an investigation of his own department.

Little Rock City Board passes data center ordinance

The City of Little Rock has passed an ordinance to regulate data centers. At an almost five-hour meeting late into Tuesday night, members voted unanimously to pass regulations. Now, any data centers in the Little Rock area will be subject to noise, landscaping and utility requirements. The vote comes as Google plans to build a data center near the Port of Little Rock. Data centers are controversial.
