Abstract Published claims should be reproducible, yielding the same result when the same analysis is applied to the same data1,2. Here we assess reproducibility in a stratified random sample of 600 papers published from 2009 to 2018 in 62 journals spanning the social and behavioural sciences. The authors of 144 (24.0%, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 20.8–27.6%) papers made data available to assess reproducibility and, for 38 others, we obtained source data to reconstruct the dataset.

In recent years, bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane (BCP) has become a medicinally relevant structural motif with several BCP derivatives reported as potentially bioactive. (1,2) While the molecular size of bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane finds a closer match with an internal acetylene motif than a phenyl ring, (3,4) it is the latter that has been targeted for bioisosteric replacement with BCP in the past three decades.

There’s been a growing trend of large employers keen to reduce or end remote working. It has been reported that Tesco, Salesforce and Boots, among others, are requesting or instructing employees to spend more time working in offices. However, this trend could see something of a slowdown and a reversal, as the recently installed government supports flexible working.
