Abstract Traditional approaches to maritime security focus on state and economic perspectives. We suggest that a more holistic approach to maritime security is needed that encompasses state, economic, human and environmental security to make maritime security more equitable, sustainable and responsive to contemporary social and environmental challenges.

Santa Barbara County Has Two of Most Charming Main Streets in U.S.

In an effort to showcase the allure of America’s main streets, Mixbook conducted a poll of 3,000 seasoned travelers to determine the most charming main ones in the country. The results highlight the beauty and character of the streets and bring attention to places many Americans may not be aware of. Two main streets in California were included in the top 100: State Street in Santa Barbara came in at No. 14, and Mission Drive in Solvang was No. 25.
