Karmelo Anthony's appeal for a new trial has failed, according to multiple sources. Retired Kaufman County Judge Michael Chitty denied an appeal for a murder new trial on Saturday, Aug. 22, in a one-page ruling, obtained by WFAA. "Upon reviewing the motion, the record, the evidence and argument, and the relevant case law, the Court has determined that the motion should be denied," Judge Chitty wrote. Anthony's legal team can appeal the ruling.

North Texas judge issues ruling on Karmelo Anthony appeal for retrial

MCKINNEY, Texas — Karmelo Anthony's appeal for a new trial has failed. Retired Kaufman County Judge Michael Chitty denied an appeal for a new trial on Saturday, Aug. 22. Anthony's appellate team cited a number of errors in the trial, including that prosecutors violated a secret agreement made with Anthony's trial defense team to keep certain evidence -- including allegations of racism and violence — from being disclosed to jurors.
