From multisensory integration to synaesthesia: a boundary-preserving continuum and research framework
Abstract Synaesthesia is commonly defined as an involuntary and consistent phenomenon in which stimulation in one sensory or cognitive domain elicits an additional experience in another domain. Yet definitions derived from perceptual psychology, neuroscience, aesthetics, cultural anthropology, and artistic practice often speak past one another.
A non-mainstream voice: alphabet acronyms in Chinese cyber culture
Abstract Alphabet acronyms (e.g. ‘yyds’, ‘xswl’, ‘nsdd’) have emerged as a significant linguistic phenomenon in Chinese cyber culture, functioning as tools for identity negotiation, cultural resistance, and group solidarity. This mixed-methods study combines large-scale data mining from Weibo, Red Notes, and BiliBili with qualitative thematic analysis. It examines usage patterns and social meanings within three digital communities: ACGN circles, fandom groups, and social media platform groups.
Mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms of waste rock–phosphogypsum cemented backfill
Abstract This study investigates the mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms of cemented backfill composed of waste rock and phosphogypsum. Slump tests were conducted on slurries containing fine-grained waste rock (Type A aggregate, 0–3 mm), coarse-grained waste rock (Type B aggregate, 3–5 mm), and varying proportions of phosphogypsum to determine the optimal mix concentration.
Spatiotemporal patterns of habitat quality and associated drivers in Anshun City, China, based on InVEST and Geodetector
Abstract Understanding the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of habitat quality (HQ) and its associated drivers is important for ecological assessment in fragile karst mountain regions. In this study, we combined the InVEST Habitat Quality model and Geodetector to quantify HQ patterns and explain their spatial heterogeneity in Anshun City, China, using five periods of data (2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020).

Thermal Utilization on Chip
|
Abstract The integration and miniaturization of chips lead to significant power consumption and heat accumulation. Typically, the energy consumption of cooling systems accounts for morn than 50% of the input energy. Current thermal management technologies do not offer solutions for on-chip thermal energy loss. Herein, we propose an on-chip integrated thermal recovery system, which can simultaneously achieve efficient heat dissipation.

Frontiers | Convergent gut microbiome adaptation and pervasive antibiotic resistome in Qinghai–Tibet Plateau passerines
1 Introduction The Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, the highest-altitude ecosystem on Earth, is characterized by a unique combination of hypobaric hypoxia, low temperatures, and intense ultraviolet radiation, which collectively drive coevolution between native species and their symbiotic microbial communities (Liu et al., 2016; Li et al., 2018).
Leading by Example: Parental Literacy Habits Stand Out Among Family Predictors of Early Literacy Dispositions
Abstract Child literacy disposition refers to a young child’s enduring attitudes, interests, enjoyment, and habits toward engaging in literacy activities. This study investigates the relative contributions of socioeconomic status (SES)—parental education, household income, and number of children—and four parental factors—home literacy resource, parent literacy habits, parental role construction, and parental dialogic engagement—to early literacy disposition in young children.

ZDHHC20-mediated S-palmitoylation of YTHDF3 stabilizes MYC mRNA to promote pancreatic cancer progression - Nature Communications
Abstract Post-translational modifications of proteins in malignant transformation and tumor maintenance of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) in the context of KRAS signaling remain poorly understood. Here, we use the KPC mouse model to examine the effect of palmitoylation on pancreatic cancer progression. ZDHHC20, upregulated by KRAS, is abnormally overexpressed and associated with poor prognosis in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Realizing high zero-bias gain in the GaN-based bipolar phototransistor through thin-base configuration for ultraviolet imaging
Realizing high zero-bias gain in the GaN-based bipolar phototransistor through thin-base configuration for ultraviolet imaging The ultraviolet (UV) detectors with high gain at low bias are urgently demanded. In this work, a GaN-based UV bipolar phototransistor (BPT) with a high zero-bias gain is obtained based on a n-p-i-n homo-structure. A thin-base structure is proposed to suppress the excess holes recombination and thus to promote the optical gain.

How the Material Characteristics of Optical Fibers and Soil Influence the Measurement Results of Distributed Acoustic Sensing
4. Experimental Measurements and Discussion In this section, the effect of soil stiffness, unit mass of the optical cable, cable length, and its bending stiffness on the system sensitivity are explored through experiments. Soils with three different levels of confining pressure were used to simulate the differentiation of soil stiffness [29], while the use of three different materials for the cable allowed for significant differences in its mass and bend stiffness.
Precise Regulation of Monomer Reactive Sites Enhances the Water Permeance and Membrane Selectivity of Polyamide Nanofiltration Membranes
Polyamide structure and chemistry play critical roles in the separation performance of thin-film composite (TFC) nanofiltration (NF) membranes. Typically, polyamide formation is based on the reactive sites on monomers (e.g., amino groups on piperazine (PIP)) during interfacial polymerization (IP).
Children’s Pain Identification Based on Skin Potential Signal
Abstract : Pain management is a crucial concern in medicine, particularly in the case of children who may struggle to effectively communicate their pain. Despite the longstanding reliance on various assessment scales by medical professionals, these tools have shown limitations and subjectivity. In this paper, we present a pain assessment scheme based on skin potential signals, aiming to convert subjective pain into objective indicators for pain identification using machine learning methods.
