Absolutely; I collect them!
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Raoul Duke, and Hildy Johnson.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means being the voice for the public - not only to keep them updated on the news, but to ask the questions they want answers to.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
MacBook Pro, iPhone, InDesign, and my somewhat trustworthy new best friend: searchable Ai transcription software for 10+ hour long meetings.
What's your favorite social network?
I try to limit social media as much as physically possible for myself while still maintaining my career. I hate them all equally.
Why did you become a journalist?
It's the only job that consistently pays just to write, and I get to make a difference in my community by making sure everyone has a voice.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be fast, be accurate, be friendly, and don't burn bridges. Make your own opportunities, and lock down your personal information.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Outside with my dogs, chasing my toddler, or working on my many unfinished creative projects.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I've been really enjoying the Atlantic lately and their long-form deep dive stories.
