After a week of worrisome predications, it would be hard to complain about the weather for the 2026 World’s Biggest Fish Fry grand parade. Forecasts had threatened rain on and around the parade’s start time at 10 a.m. Friday. Instead, a bank of cloudy skies and cool breezes kept temperatures in the low seventies for the parade’s roughly one-hour-45-minute duration.

A date has been locked in for the hot air balloon festival that’s coming to Paris this year — it’ll be Sept. 5, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Tara Wilson, assistant director of the Paris-Henry County Industrial Committee, told members of the Henry County Tourism Authority board Monday morning that the company that will be presenting the festival had agreed to that date. Wilson said the event will be called “Glow Over Paris.” It’ll be an all-day event at Eiffel Tower Park.
