Suicidal behavior involves plans and acts of self-injury with some intent to die, ranging from low- to high-lethal suicide attempts to fatal acts (completed suicide). Although the clinical definition of suicidal behavior remains elusive, it is often viewed as a continuum: from ideation to completion (Mann, 2002). Suicidal ideation is a broad term to define wishes and thoughts about ending one's life and are separated into passive (without a plan) to active efforts (with a plan) (Mann, 2003).
