Family mourns loss of 18-year-old in tragic ATV crash

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Fourth of July weekend that was supposed to be full of celebration ended in grief for the family of 18-year-old Kaylee Watkins after a fatal ATV accident on Friday, July 3. Watkins was invited to a weekend of ATV riding with her boyfriend’s family when tragedy struck. She was a passenger on an ATV that got into an accident, killing her on impact. Now, the family is devastated, saying they feel like they lost a bright light in their lives way too soon.

Springfield paramedic injured on mental health call

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – First responders exist to help people, but sometimes those situations can turn dangerous for them too, and the Springfield Fire Division experienced that firsthand on Wednesday, July 8. For the fire division, it was an average day as they went to Mental Health Services on East High Street to transport a patient to Springfield Regional Medical Center. “It’s a normal example of the dangers that we face on just regular routine calls,” said Chief Jacob King.

Urbana residents demand restrictions on data centers amid lawsuit

URBANA, Ohio (WDTN) – Nearly three weeks after Urbana was served with a lawsuit from Thor Equities over a data center, the people are coming together to share their thoughts on what needs to happen next. The meeting was packed with demands from people, with some calling for the firing of city administration members and others wanting to change the zoning of the data center location. “Our stance is you don’t want an open door to anyone,” said Summer Woodburn, an Urbana resident.
