Outlier Media is excited to announce the release of its new zine, “Profits and Losses: What Detroiters Lost in the Foreclosure Crisis.” It’s difficult to overstate the damage the foreclosure crisis inflicted on Detroit families and neighborhoods.

Good morning, Our new zine, ‚ÄúProfits & Losses,‚ÄĚ centers on Detroit‚Äôs foreclosure crisis. We created it to preserve the stories of Detroiters who lost family homes and generational wealth, changing the trajectory of their lives. We also wanted to reach folks who don‚Äôt engage with digital storytelling, whether by choice or because reliable internet is inaccessible. The project grew from an idea I had a year ago: What would it look like to bring Outlier‚Äôs stories to Detroiters in print?

Howdy, In just over a month, Detroiters will head to the polls to vote in races for Congress, the Michigan Legislature, governor, Wayne County executive and on a couple of millages. Did you know all those races are on the ballot this year? It’s OK if you didn’t. There’s still plenty of time before the Aug. 4 primary and the November general election. Detroiters will cast their votes in elections on Aug. 4 and Nov. 3.
