We’re back after taking a long break, and also to process what happened at the White House Correspondents Dinner last month (which was controversial even before a gunman tried to sprint past security and down into the ballroom of the Washington Hilton). We’re sure you have read volumes about the shooting and what has followed since. For now, we’re going to continue here with our reporting on our trip to Las Vegas, the weekend before last, on what we saw at the NAB Show.

Normally by this point on a Friday evening, we would be enjoying our first cocktail and contemplating life. But on this Friday in April, we are at the keyboard and contemplating the news that U.S. Judge Troy L. Nunley has ordered today that he will need another week to decide whether to grant a permanent injunction that could block the $6.2 billion deal allowing Nexstar Media Group to acquire TEGNA.

As you are probably well aware, one week ago, on the morning of January 7, an encounter between local protesters and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents operating in the Central neighborhood of Minneapolis would end with the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman behind the wheel of her SUV by an ICE agent who had placed himself in front of the vehicle.
