Kristen Hackbarth is a freelance editor and communications professional with more than 20 years of experience working in marketing, public relations and communications in northern Nevada. Kristen graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in photography and minor in journalism and has a Master of Science in Management and Leadership. Multiple This Is Reno reporters and photographers covered a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Reno that segued into a destructive demonstration at Reno Police Department headquarters and on to a violent riot at City Hall, where one of our reporters was assaulted by demonstrators. My role was to sift through and select images from hundreds provided that would tell the story visually. I worked with numerous writers to help coalesce their submissions into one breaking news story.
