Winter Weather Advisory in effect through early Tuesday afternoon
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the 95.3 MNC listening area. Lake effect snow begins Monday, Jan. 24, after 6 p.m., and will linger into late Tuesday morning. LaPorte and St. Joe Counties in Indiana, in addition to Berrien and Cass Counties in Michigan, could pick up an additional 2-4” of lake effect snow by Tuesday. As far as temperatures go – today may be the warmest day of the week. Bitter cold arrives Tuesday overnight with a low of 4 degrees.
Frigid air entering Michiana after weekend snowstorm
Snow showers will mostly clear out by mid-morning on Sunday. Isolated lake effect snow will be possible throughout the day. Finally, Sunday night snow chances will clear and then we are left with bitter cold temperatures. Highs Sunday afternoon will only top out in the upper 20s. Lows Monday morning will drop into the single digits for some. Highs will slowly warm back into the 30s for the middle of the week, but then another round of snow and bitter cold moves in Wednesday into Thursday.

US chemical plant leak leaves two dead, four injured in Texas
Two people are dead after a chemical leak Tuesday evening at plant in La Porte, Texas, company officials said. Winter Weather Advisory: Several inches of snow to fall late Monday, Tuesday
Lows to start your Monday, Jan. 25, will be in the mid 20s. Highs by the afternoon will be in the low to mid 30s. A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect as mixed wintry precipitation and snow showers look to move into Michiana around 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Snow will remain light at first with a gradual increase into the evening hours. Moderate to heavy snowfall will stick through the overnight hours into Tuesday morning.
Snow, ice slowing drivers in Michiana into Wednesday morning
Snow showers on Tuesday night brought a quick inch or so of snow, but rain began after midnight, causing a concern for ice, or freezing rain, during the early morning hours of Wednesday. Temperatures rise above freezing quickly through Wednesday morning, according to ABC 57 Meteorologist Tom Coomes. Your morning commute could be icy. Luckily, temperatures are warmer by Wednesday afternoon, so any accumulating snow or ice should melt by the afternoon.
Snow to taper off by late on Christmas Day, warmer for the weekend
Snow showers, some heavy at times, will persist through Friday morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures this morning will be in the mid to upper teens with feel like temperatures near 0. Later today highs will top out in the low to mid 20s. Snow showers should move out around 4 or 5pm. Snow accumulations could reach 6-9 inches in Berrien, Cass, northern LaPorte, St. Joseph, and northern Elkhart counties. Drifting snow is also a possibility as winds remain on the breezy side.
Winter storm forecast for Christmas Eve into Christmas Day

Much of Thursday is cold and quiet, then snow showers gradually ‘turn-on’ Thursday evening, as temps fall into the teens and the wind backs to the northwest. This event has a short but potent window for snowfall, with most snow falling between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Christmas morning, when conditions are most favorable.
