Abstract Sea level rise (SLR) increases the risk of flooding at coastal sites that use and produce hazardous substances. We assess whether socially marginalized populations in the United States are more likely to be impacted by projected SLR-related flooding of hazardous sites that could result in contaminant releases.

Abstract Shorter telomere length is a biomarker of cellular aging influenced in early life. Exposure to environmental hazards and psychosocial stressors disproportionately impact socially marginalized populations and have been linked with shorter telomeres. To estimate joint associations between residential neighborhood greenness, traffic, noise, and perceived neighborhood quality, psychosocial stress and depression on telomere length of birth parents and their newborns.

Air Quality Impacts of the January 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires: Insights from Public Data Sources

Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! On January 7th, 2025, several wildfires ignited in Los Angeles (LA), California. Antecedent hot and dry conditions coupled with abundant vegetation resulted in widespread dry fuels. (1−3) Extreme winds rapidly spread embers once the wildfires ignited. The two largest fires, Palisades and Eaton, burned a combined 37,728 acres, damaged or destroyed 18,295 structures, and resulted in at least 29 civilian fatalities.
