Lara Saavedra’s Biography
I’m a passionate, hardworking, driven professional who takes pride in my work.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor and privilege to cover significant events that have shaped our nation – from natural disasters, local and national elections, social protests and everything in between. This included covering tornado outbreaks in the heart of Tornado Alley, historic flooding that wiped out neighborhoods and plugged up a water treatment system in Columbia, SC and an interstate shutting down due to a marching crowd during a time of social unrest in Tulsa, Okla. Covering these events has made me garner a perspective of the community. Together, we can withstand anything.
As a content creator and editor at KOKI-FOX23 in Tulsa, Okla., I work with a team to cover news that holds the powerful accountable, informs the public and keeps the community safe. Staying true to our core values allows us to reach a new audience and keep existing ones engaged.
When I’m not working, I practice Yoga and Pilates. Yoga helps me stay centered, grounded and be mindful. Cooking is another one of my hobbies because I love the creativity that it encompasses. Following a recipe, making small edits or completely improvising gives me the freedom that I love.
When I'm not in the kitchen, I'm planning where I can travel to next. I've been fortunate to see some amazing places (Sweden, Italy, Dominican Republic) in my short life and I hope to see more soon.
