What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job out of college was a writer for a local magazine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I wrote about food, current events and politics.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Not in a professional manner, I think my mom used to have one.

Why did you become a journalist?
I wanted to become a journalist to speak truth to power, to give a voice to the voiceless and to shine a light on those who are in the dark.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was editor of our school magazine. I loved every moment.
When's the best time to pitch you?
The best time to pitch is in the morning.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
The yoga studio. It provides some balance and calm, which as a journalist in a deadline-driven industry, is much needed.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I like USA Today, it's easy to navigate and easy to digest.
