1. Background Lung cancer represents one of the most common and malignant neoplasm worldwide. According to the last Global Cancer Statistics, lung cancer is the second cancer in terms of incidence but the first in terms of mortality worldwide [1]. Among all lung cancers, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most abundant (~85%). The treatment options now available for patients with NSCLC include classical chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy [2–5].
