When Anthony "Tony" J. Garcia was growing up in Denver, he lived in the city's oldest neighborhood. Today, that neighborhood no longer exists. The community called it the "Westside." Now, the city's map reads "Auraria." In the early to mid-1900s, the area was home to immigrants, farmers, and WWI veterans. Many of them were Latino. Auraria, Denver’s oldest neighborhood, predates the city’s establishment.
