Severe thunderstorms, high winds could roll through parts of North Texas Thursday evening

Parts of North Texas will see a slight risk of severe thunderstorms and high winds Thursday evening, after a blistering day that reached 96 degrees by the afternoon. Storm chances will increase tonight and into Friday across North and Central Texas, according to the National Weather Service's Fort Worth office. Areas west of Interstate 35 have the greatest potential to see severe storms and heavy rain as a cold front moves southward.

Police, fire crews respond to incident at downtown Dallas intersection

Intersections at Commerce and St. Paul streets in downtown Dallas were blocked off by dozens of fire trucks and police cruisers Thursday afternoon, blocking traffic through the city center. Crime scene tape was drawn across the intersection, wrapped between two poles and surrounded a yellow DART bus that was tilted to the side.

I fell in love with journalism in high school reading the Dallas Morning News each morning. Wasn't a job, but found my calling.

Yes! I would practice spelling words on my grandma's electric typewriter. The typing skills stuck but spelling didn't.
