Prognostic value of a novel indicator integrating C-reactive protein-triglyceride glucose index and coronary physiological burden in patients undergoing PCI: a prospective cohort study
Abstract Background: Patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) continue to face residual cardiovascular risk despite receiving guideline-directed optimal therapy. Both systemic metabolic-inflammatory dysregulation, reflected by the C-reactive protein-triglyceride glucose index (CTI), and coronary physiological burden, assessed by the quantitative flow ratio (QFR), are critical determinants of prognosis.

Effector conformational plasticity enables lineage-specific secretion via Hcp heterohexamers in gut symbionts - Nature Communications
Abstract The Type VI Secretion System (T6SS) delivers effectors to mediate interbacterial competition. While the conserved hexameric Hcp ring is acknowledged as a key effector carrier, the mechanism by which it recognizes and accommodates structurally diverse cargos remains unclear. Notably, gut-dominant Bacteroidota species encode at least five hcp genes within their T6SS loci, yet the biological significance of this multiplicity is unknown.

Development of a multidisciplinary competency framework for specialist nurses in outpatient dental sedation and anesthesia: a mixed-methods Delphi and AHP study
Abstract Background: The rapid global expansion of “comfortable dental care” has significantly increased the demand for outpatient sedation. However, the unique challenges of Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA), including shared airways and limited rescue resources, necessitate highly specialized nursing competencies. This study aims to develop and validate a comprehensive competency framework for specialist nurses in outpatient dental sedation and anesthesia to enhance perioperative safety.
Structure-based identification of potent fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) inhibitors as potential therapeutics for hepatocellular carcinoma
Fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4), a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor family, is crucial for regulating cell growth, differentiation, and tissue repair (Haugsten et al., 2010). The fgfr4 gene, located on human chromosome 5q35.1, spans approximately 11.3 kb and consists of 18 exons (Vainikka et al., 1992). FGFR4 is essential for epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, which are crucial for organ development and tissue regeneration (Peláez-García et al., 2013).
LIMA1 O‐GlcNAcylation Promotes Hepatic Lipid Deposition through Inducing β‐catenin‐Regulated FASn Expression in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (Adv. Sci. 15/2025)
Graphical Abstract Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease High-fat diet upregulated O-GlcNAcylation of LIMA1 and LIMA1-enriched small extracellular vesicle (sEV) secretion in hepatocytes, exacerbated hepatic lipid deposition and metabolic dysfunction-associated steato-hepatitis (MASH) fibrosis. LIMA1 is a promising non-invasive biomarker and therapeutic target for MASH. More details can be found in article number 2415941 by Yongmin Yan and co-workers.
Synergistic mechanism of polycarboxylate superplasticizer and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose on fiber dispersion and mechanical properties of PVA-fiber concrete: experimental and simulation studies
Abstract PCEs and HPMC are vital to PVA-FRC, where imbalance causes bleeding and viscosity issues, affecting fiber distribution and performance. This study investigates the synergistic mechanisms of PCEs and HPMC on fiber dispersion and mechanical properties through macroscopic experiments and microscopic simulations. Experimental results show that an increase in HPMC dosage or a decrease in PCE dosage reduces fiber uniformity.
LIMA1 O‐GlcNAcylation Promotes Hepatic Lipid Deposition through Inducing β‐catenin‐Regulated FASn Expression in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
1 Introduction Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a chronic liver disease affecting ≈30% of adults worldwide.[1] Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) represents the active phase of MASLD, characterized by inflammation and faster fibrosis progression in the liver.[2] Currently, there are no optimal diagnostic methods for MASH, except for the highly invasive liver biopsy.[3] Additionally, the FDA has only approved resmetirom for the prevention...

Mycobacterium smegmatis MfpC is a GEF that regulates mfpA translationally to alter the fluoroquinolone efficacy - Communications Biology
Abstract Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, remains a serious threat to global public health. Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are effective against M. tuberculosis; however, resistant strains have limited their efficacy. Mycobacterium fluoroquinolone resistance protein A (MfpA) confers intrinsic resistance to FQs; however, its regulatory mechanisms remain largely unknown. Using M. smegmatis as a model, we investigated whether MfpC is necessary for FQ susceptibility.

APOE Impacts Lipid Trafficking in Retinal Pigment Epithelium Cells
Abstract Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is typified by the formation of lipid-rich drusen under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) layer. Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a known genetic risk factor for AMD and a substantial component of drusen, however, the mechanism by which APOE variants contribute to AMD pathology remains unclear. APOE is the primary cholesterol and lipid transport protein of the central nervous system, as well as a component circulating lipoproteins.
