Emotional and behavioural problems and non-suicidal self-injury in preadolescent children: complementary insights from child and parent reports
Abstract Objective: Given the scarcity of research on preadolescent non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and its clinical significance, this study examined its prevalence and associations with emotional/behavioural problems, and the differences and complementarity between child and parent reports in a Chinese community sample. Methods: In total, 1,923 children (mean age = 11.01 years, SD = 0.79; 49.8% male) were recruited via convenience sampling from eight primary schools in Tianjin.
Case Report: Pulmonary artery banding for an older child with end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy
Abstract Therapeutic options for children with end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy are limited. Pulmonary artery banding has been proposed as a potential bridge or alternative strategy in children with severe left ventricular dysfunction and preserved right ventricular function, but related experience in older children is limited.
A laser capture microdissection-based transcriptome analysis on salt glands highlights salt secretion mechanism in mangrove plant Avicennia marina
INTRODUCTION Coastal saline ecosystems, including salt marshes and mangrove forests, host plants that must cope with high salinity (Liu et al., 2023; Zhao et al., 2024) and salt-secreting mangrove plants have adapted to grow in high saline environments. They have evolved various adaptive strategies such as salt exclusion at the roots and salt secretion in the leaves (Balsamo et al., 1995; Parida & Jha, 2010).
Extracellular vesicle-encapsulated GDF15 alleviates doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity via the SUB1/TERT/TPP signalling axis
Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX) is a highly effective chemotherapeutic agent, but its clinical application is limited by cardiotoxicity. Mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis are key mechanisms underlying DOX-induced cardiomyopathy (DIC), while the role of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) and its specific regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. An in vitro DOX-induced H9C2 cardiomyocyte injury model was established. TERT was overexpressed via adenoviral transfection or inhibited using BIBR1532.

GW250114 reveals signatures of post-merger black-hole horizon
Abstract The horizon of a black hole, the ‘surface of no return’, is characterized by its rotation frequency ΩH and surface gravity κ. A striking signature is that any infalling object appears to orbit at ΩH owing to frame dragging, while its emitted signals decay exponentially at a rate set by κ as a consequence of gravitational redshift.
Ablation of the adhesion G protein-coupled receptor ADGRL1 activates anti-tumor immune response via cDC1-T cell hub formation
Keywords coordinated cell death ADGRL1 anti-tumor immunity cDC1-CD8+ T cell hub Research topic(s) CP: cancer CP: immunology Introduction Immunotherapy with immune-checkpoint blockades (ICBs) has achieved landmark clinical responses in various cancer types.1 However, the clinical benefit remains limited, as primary and acquired resistance are frequently driven by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) deficient in antigen-presenting dendritic cells (DCs) and cytotoxic T...
Attentional negativity and emotional symptoms as serial mediators linking parental verbosity to non-suicidal self-injury in Chinese pre-adolescents
Abstract Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in pre-adolescents represents an escalating clinical concern, with early onset being a predictor of persistent self-harm and future suicidal behavior. Despite growing recognition of the role of family dynamics in youth NSSI, the specific mechanisms through which parental communication behaviors contribute to early-onset NSSI remain poorly characterized, particularly within the Chinese cultural context.
Information, Prices and Buyer Entry
Staff working paper 2026-4 (English) Available as: PDF Conventional wisdom suggests that information transparency about prices lowers prices and markups by intensifying seller competition. However, in markets with costly buyer entry, price transparency also draws in more buyers, increasing demand-side competition and putting upward pressure on prices. We show that this buyer entry effect may dominate, and prices and markups may rise with information transparency.

Response of soil micro-food webs to the addition of maize straw and animal manure in a mollisol
ABSTRACT The soil micro-food webs play vital roles in the decomposition of soil organic matter, and thus in the quality and sustainability of cropland ecosystems. However, responses of soil micro-food webs to the addition of maize straw and animal manure in a mollisol remain unclear. Four treatments were examined: no maize straw and no animal manure control (CK); maize straw only (MS); chicken manure plus maize straw (CS); ox manure plus maize straw (OS).

Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid Enhances the Quality of Postovulatory Aged Oocytes by Alleviating Oxidative Stress, Apoptosis, and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Pigs
1. Introduction One of the major factors causing reduced developmental capacity of aged porcine oocytes is the induction of oxidative stress during oocyte aging [1], as oxidative stress gives rise to a series of cascade reactions that negatively affect oocyte quality, such as morphological (spontaneous oocyte activation and oocyte death), cellular (spindle formation and cortical granule migration anomalies), and molecular (mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis) changes [2].

Multimessenger astronomy with a Southern-hemisphere gravitational-wave observatory
Joint observations of gravitational waves and electromagnetic counterparts will answer questions about cosmology, gamma-ray bursts, and the behavior of matter at supranuclear densities. The addition of a Southern-hemisphere gravitational-wave observatory to proposed global networks creates a longer baseline, which is beneficial for sky localization. We analyze how an observatory in Australia can enhance the multimessenger astronomy capabilities of future networks.

Methods and prospects for gravitational-wave searches targeting ultralight vector-boson clouds around known black holes
Ultralight bosons are predicted in many extensions to the Standard Model and are popular dark matter candidates. The black hole superradiance mechanism allows for these particles to be probed using only their gravitational interaction. In this scenario, an ultralight boson cloud may form spontaneously around a spinning black hole and extract a non-negligible fraction of the black hole’s mass.

Multidimensional voiceprint feature assessment system for identifying the depression in children and adolescents: a diagnostic test
Introduction Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a type of common mental illness. MDD could become the first-class diseases for the heavy burden worldwide by 2030 (1). However, the prevalence of depression tends to increase among adolescents. In the United States, the lifetime prevalence of MDD among adolescents aged 13 to 18 years is 11.0%, and the 12-month prevalence probability is 7.5% (2).
LAD-RCNN: A Powerful Tool for Livestock Face Detection and Normalization
Abstract : Simple Summary Livestock face recognition has become one of the research hotspots; animal face recognition refers to identification recognition based on livestock face images. Face normalization is an important step in face recognition, which refers to extracting animal facial images from raw images and aligning them through methods such as rotation. However, it appears that no previous studies have focused on livestock face normalization.

Using rational filters to uncover the first ringdown overtone in GW150914
Abstract There have been debates in the literature about the existence of the first overtone in the ringdown of GW150914. We develop a novel Bayesian framework to reanalyze the data of this event, by incorporating a new technique, the “rational filter” that can clean particular modes from the ringdown signal. We examine the existence of the first overtone in GW150914 from multiple novel perspectives.
