Andrew Liptak’s Biography

Andrew Liptak is a writer and historian from Vermont. He is the author of the forthcoming book Cosplay: A History (Saga Press, 2021), and his work has appeared in Clarkesworld Magazine, Gizmodo, io9, Kirkus Reviews, Lifehacker, Slate, Tor.com, VentureBeat, The Verge, and other publications.

He graduated in 2007 from Norwich University with a bachelor’s degree in History, and in 2009 with a master’s degree in Military History, is a 2014 attendee of the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop, and is an official "Mad Scientist" for the US Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). He is represented by Seth Fishman of the Gernert Company.

His first short story, ‘Fragmented’, appeared in Galaxy’s Edge Magazine in May 2014 (reprinted at The Art of Future War Project in 2015). In 2014, he published his first anthology (co-edited with Jaym Gates), War Stories: New Military Science Fiction.
