MANCHESTER — Illing Middle School was placed in a “secure-the-school” mode late Friday morning while police investigated a report of a gun in the building, according to Manchester Public Schools. After a thorough search, police determined that there was no weapon at the school, said Jim Farrell, the district attendance and communications director.

WATERBURY — A New Haven man wounded by gunfire in a disturbance in Waterbury Thursday has been arrested, according to the Waterbury Police Department. Scott Basile, 33, was charged in connection with the disturbance on the 1900 block of North Main Street. Basile had a gunshot wound and a graze wound as a result of the disturbance, which involved another individual, Waterbury police Sgt. Joseph Morais said in a news release.

EASTON - A man was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries after he fell from the roof of a home on Everett Road Thursday, according to police. Easton police dispatchers received a call reporting the fall on the 200 block of Everett Road at around 12:15 p.m. Dispatchers provided emergency instructions over the phone while alerting Easton police, fire and volunteer EMS to respond, said Easton police Capt. Jonathan Arnold.
