Roosevelt Hotel Shrimp Remoulade is like an old friend. Almost nothing says New Orleans like a good shrimp remoulade. Growing up eating fresh shrimp, cooked perfectly, and so well-seasoned, I was shocked the first time someone served me frozen boiled shrimp with ketchup. I was probably about 12 years old, and I realized how lucky I was to be eating in New Orleans — and now I would expand that to say Louisiana.

Summer is the right time for a picnic! With the Fourth of July holiday coming up, and considering how special this 250th anniversary of our nation is, why wouldn’t you want to celebrate? Even if you cannot go out for a picnic, you can eat picnic food at home. So I have picked some traditional picnic foods, like potato salad, as well as some nontraditional items, like Lemon Cream Pie in a jar, so we can celebrate the past and look forward to the future.
