The football game is actually an extension of a bitter political debate that began during the American Civil War (1862-65) and continued during reconstruction and, this past weekend.

Then there's the idea it's a train, a choo-choo of sorts and kids little and big like locomotives. Electric trains are still one of the leading Christmas gifts for youngsters.

Don't believe me? Look over your screen, the manufacturers name and all they stand for is written somewhere isn't it? With all the distractions we face daily around the clock it's only a matter of time before even the smartest of us slips up and lets a bad actor into our lives.

Road Trip to New Orleans Secret Spots Tourists Don't Know About
New Orleans, like Galveston, is better in the fall once the massive tourist crowds have gone home. At least in my opinion, these cities are best visited in the so-called off-season. I don't mind waiting for a beg-net, I just don't want to wait over an hour in a line that stretches down the boulevard.

Lake Area Ballet Presents: The Nutcracker November 23rd
It's more than just the few songs we're most familiar with, the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and the Nutcracker Waltz. It's a fantastic tale of a little girl who magically travels to another world, The Land of Sweets on Christmas Eve. If you're not intimately familiar with these tunes, trust me that sometime between now and New Years Eve you'll hear them playing lowly in the stores, in the background at parties you may attend and even some have been reconstructed for radio airplay.

Fall Back or Return to Central Standard Time is This Weekend
Ben Franklin and I are not early risers. Though I've gone through periods of life when I had to be, by nature I'm not. And neither was America's founding father, inventor and all around science and cool guy Benjamin Franklin. One morning upon being awakened for meetings of the day, he thought if only he could sleep an hour longer, he'd happily work until later into the day. In Ben's day work was accomplished largely from sunup to sundown.

Boudin: Ball Versus Link Let the Battle Begin
Boudin. Nearly everyone has their favorite specialty meat market, convenience store or homemade recipe that is the worlds best. There is almost no family function, holiday or plain old day that goes by without most of us not getting a bite or two. What is boudin? It's a mix of pork, liver, rice, onions and parsley, salt, pepper and other seasonings. These are the basics which are stuffed into a sausage casing and served hot or cold.
Astros Win Take Series Lead 3-1 Game Five Friday 6 PM in New York
The quiet New England kid who grew up going to Boston Red Sox games with his dad and granddad, became a pro himself and against Boston's ancient nemesis in New York, George Springer blasted a three run homer in the third inning helping propel the Houston Astros to a three games to one lead in the best of seven ALCS. The mood in Yankee stadium prior to the game was almost one of an assumption. The subtext of the pregame commentary seemed to assume the Yankees would win.
Rain-out Day in New York City Game Four On For Tomorrow Night
In Game Three the New York Yankees strategy seemed to be to try to knock Gerrit Cole off the mound early and go to work on the Houston Astros awesome but shaky at times bullpen and, hope that Tuesday would be a shaky day. True enough Gerrit Cole who hasn’t lost a game in nearly five months got off to a wobbly start. The Yankees seemed to have him on the ropes but couldn’t knock him out. Cole walked five batters, tying his previous career high, and struck out seven.

Go Home Hurricane Season It's Halloween Already
Some stores have been selling Christmas decorations almost two months, we can order almost anything with a pumpkin spice flavor option and some ladies are already posting photos of their sexy witch and cute kitty Halloween costumes. Keep in mind hurricane season officially ends on November first and historically late-season October hurricanes are typically weaker than what we get to see in August and September. But no storm is ever to be taken lightly, ever.

Tonight's game five of the American League Divisional Series between the Houston Astros and The Tampa Bay Rays was a win or go home situation, the Astros pinned their hopes on the arm of Gerrit Cole and the twenty-nine year old delivered with a high speed passion. Astros Trust 2019 Season to Gerrit Cole in Do Or Die Fifth Game
The shocking defeat of the Los Angeles Dodgers last night in a fifth game elimination scenario by the Washington Nationals, a wild card entry into baseball's post season tournament hopefully has opened eyes in the Houston Astros clubhouse. All season I tracked the Dodgers, looking for a WS matchup with Houston, and my WS prediction was blown to smithereens too last night as I'd foreseen a 4-1 Astros World Series win over LA.
The Sheriff Wants Your Help Finding This Truck
There are literally millions of white vehicles on the road. Once there was a poll as to which color vehicle receives the most speeding tickets, people answered mostly red. They were thinking of sports cars, but the answer is white, simply because there are millions and millions of all makes and models, painted white.
McNeese Spikers in Central Arkansas Tonight for Conference Match

What Traffic? Trump Rally in Lake Charles Friday to Cause a Stir
A few months ago on a visit to Cameron Parish President Trump's motorcade caused quite a stir as the procession moved from Chennault to Cameron and back. As fate had it we on Lakeshore Drive got to see an impressive array of official vehicles as they rolled by on one leg of the visit. They rolled by, that's the key. Everything was in motion but for the half-hour or two the president spent speechifying and in local meetings.

October Means Gumbeaux Festivals Across the State
Most of the records that pop up regarding the history of gumbo indicate it was made by slave cooks in New Orleans as early as 1764 at a time when Louisiana was changing ownership from France to Spain. In light of that historical fact, how jalapenos didn't end up as an gumbo ingredient escapes me. The original dish was essentially okra and rice in a stew form which was refined in mama's kitchen labs for decades to now include the so-called Louisiana Holy Trinity of celery, bell peppers and onions.
