Invasive species strike team targets garlic mustard on Appalachian Trail

Volunteers joined a specialized strike team to eliminate invasive plants along the Appalachian Trail near the popular hiking destination Max Patch last month. A group of weed-pullers yanked and bagged 72 pounds of garlic mustard at Lemon Gap in late April with the the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s Non-Native Invasive Species Strike Team.

Regional skating haven officially opens in Roanoke's Wasena Park

With joyful kickflips, hordes of skaters dropped in to enjoy the newly opened skatepark and pump track in southwest Roanoke's Wasena Park.
