Moving Circularity Beyond the Classroom
When schools incorporate circular design into their renovations, the concept becomes not just a lesson students learn, but an experience they live. When business schools embark on new construction or renovation, they can model sustainable practices by preserving or reusing existing structures, architectural features, and furniture as they adapt their facilities to new needs.
Types of Neurons in the Myenteric Plexus of Human Gastric Corpus Identified by Multi-Layer Immunohistochemical Coding and Vagal Tracing
1 Introduction The ganglionated myenteric and submucous plexuses contain millions of enteric neurons and extend along the length of the GI tract, forming circuits that coordinate gut functions. Different parts of the GI tract perform distinct roles; it may be expected that the circuitry of the enteric nervous system differs between regions. The stomach is a low-pressure reservoir which mixes food with gastric juices and provides controlled release into the duodenum.

From Sequence to Response: AI‐Guided Prediction of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles Immune Recognitions
1 Introduction Therapeutic nucleic acids (TNAs) have gained attention for their potential in targeted drug delivery and immunotherapy.[1] Despite recent advances, TNAs still face challenges in achieving personalized formulations involving multiple therapeutic agents with precisely regulated immunorecognition and toxicity.
Mist & Misery
I walked the wide earth, and all that I found was hollow. I flew the vast skies, and all I saw was mist. I built my great fortune, and all I could buy was a hundred years. I reigned as king of all, and all I received was shallow praise. I burned with deep rage, and all I gained was misery. I committed myself to kindness, and all I won was scorn. I gave myself to hatred, and all I learned was pain. I flung myself into love, and I was betrayed. So then I danced in hell, but I only ever knew sorrow.

Demand justice for Haitian who died in ICE custody in Broward | Opinion
Marie Ange Blaise was 44 years old when she died in her cell at the Broward Transitional Center on April 25, 2025. She was not a criminal. She was not a threat. She was a human being who, like so many of us, was seeking a better life. She came to this country with hope, but instead, she found herself incarcerated without due process, ignored when she cried out for help, and ultimately left to die alone. It could have been me. It could have been any of us.
Discussion on the Optimal Controls Results for Fractional Systems With Atangana-Baleanu Derivative
In this paper, we present the optimal controls for a system governed by Atangana–Baleanu fractional differential systems in Banach spaces. We verify the existence of the mild solutions through the concepts of fractional calculus, semigroup theory, and Leray–Schauder's fixed point theorem. Likewise, we discuss the existence of optimal controls for the corresponding fractional control system. Furthermore, an example is offered to define the theoretical result.
Existence and Optimal Controls for Generalized Riemann–Liouville Fractional Sobolev‐Type Stochastic Integrodifferential Equations of Order ϑ∈(1,2)
This manuscript addresses the optimal control of generalized Riemann–Liouville fractional (Hilfer fractional) Sobolev-type stochastic differential equations of order ϑ ∈ ( 1 , 2 ) $$ \vartheta \in \kern0.3em \left(1,2\right) $$ in separable Hilbert spaces. First, the existence of mild solutions for the system is established using the cosine family of operators and the Leray–Schauder fixed point theorem. Then, the existence of optimal control is demonstrated through Balder's theorem.
Veterans: If you are hurting, ask the VA for help. Original
I have struggled to help thousands of veterans with PTSD and other problems from service. Standing before me in Veterans Court, their lives were shattered. For eight years, I presided over the cases of justice-involved veterans. Most had never sought help from the Veterans Affairs. Some complain that “the V.A. is not doing enough for veterans.” But it is. The VA is doing a great job providing for veterans. The VA provides a multitude of services for veterans seeking to adjust to civilian life.
Annals of Light in Hannah Goodwin’s Stardust: Cinematic Archives at the End of the World
“What archives of humanity will exist after the end of the world” (p. 1)? This existential enquiry opens Hannah Goodwin’s monograph, Stardust: Cinematic Archives at the End of the World, a pithy and perceptive document on the nature of astronomy, cinema, memory, and archives of light. Her text accounts for the strong affinities between the cosmos and cinema and how these subjects invite imaginative promise and perspective that extends beyond the era of human existence.
I will not vote for hypocrites. I am not voting for Kamala Harris
By , Op-ed contributor Kamala Harris, the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in history, is a hypocrite. So was I. In 1982, my girlfriend, Sandy, was pregnant. I was the father. Sandy and I were in graduate school. She believed in a woman’s right to choose, and that abortion was a reproductive choice. We spoke in clinical terms, referring to that growing human inside her as a thing. She had plans and raising a child — then — would destroy them. She feared she would resent our baby.
Design of coma-free Hettrick-Underwood type spectrometers for high energy resolution RIXS experimental station
The Hettrick–Underwood (HU) type design, consisting of a pre-focusing mirror and a varied-line-spacing planar grating (VLS-PG), for the high resolution resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectrometer is considered. The light path of the HU design is analyzed, and the analytical functions determining the groove parameters of VLS-grating are given. Efforts are made to compare the different choices of the pre-focusing mirrors, circular cylindrical (HU-CM) and elliptical cylindrical (HU-EM).
Electrically-stimulated cellular and tissue events are coordinated through ion channel-mediated calcium influx and chromatin modifications across the cytosol-nucleus space
Cell and tissue engineering represents an emerging scientific discipline that integrates elements of cell biology, engineering, and medicine to repair, regenerate, and replace tissues and organs [1,2]. A wealth of studies has underscored the pivotal role played by biophysical cues in modulating diverse cell behaviors and enhancing the efficacy of tissue repair [3,4].

Supporting the maritime industrial base
Before delving into specifics in this article, it’s worth explaining the phrase “maritime industrial base.” Maritime industrial base is a group of individuals, firms, and governments working together to achieve a common objective in the maritime sector of the economy. The common objective is to ensure that proper workforce development, an effective supply base, and facilities are in place to support shipbuilding and its sustainment.
Screening for promising multi-target bioactive components from Cortex Mori Radicis for the treatment of chronic cor pulmonale based on immobilized beta1-adrenergic receptor and beta2-adrenergic receptor chromatography
Cor pulmonale is a disease in which respiratory conditions, including diseases of the bronchial-lung tissue and thoracic or pulmonary vascular diseases, cause changes to the right ventricle's structure and function. The disease is mostly derived from the chronic bronchial disease. It will cause the lung of the patient to be affected by long-term pulmonary vascular obstruction, resulting in a gradual increase in arterial pressure in the lungs and the ventricular load on the ventricle increases.

Strawberry guava invasion of a Hawaiian rainforest: Changing population patterns
1 INTRODCTION While mainland tropical rainforests are seen as resistant to the establishment and spread of non-native invasive species (Denslow & DeWalt, 2008), rainforests on oceanic islands are notably vulnerable (Barton et al., 2021; Carlquist, 1974; Denslow, 2003; Vitousek, 1986). Strawberry guava (Psidium cattleyanum O. Deg., Myrtaceae) is a small, shade-tolerant tree native to the Atlantic forests of Brazil and introduced to Hawai'i in 1825 (Nagata, 1985; Stone & Pratt, 1994).
The impact of low-mode symmetry on inertial fusion energy output in the burning plasma state - Nature Communications
|
Abstract Indirect Drive Inertial Confinement Fusion Experiments on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) have achieved a burning plasma state with neutron yields exceeding 170 kJ, roughly 3 times the prior record and a necessary stage for igniting plasmas. The results are achieved despite multiple sources of degradations that lead to high variability in performance.

ECOWAS and the exit of the trio
“It’s a hard one but it’s difficult to influence people if you alienate them. You can at least find somewhere to meet on a bridge but it’s almost impossible across a wall.” – Anonymous Rather than strengthening ECOWAS, this move weakens it and is not something to be proud of; ECOWAS is currently focused on finding a peaceful solution to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was established in 1975 with 16 member countries.
Demonstration of hot-spot fuel gain exceeding unity in direct-drive inertial confinement fusion implosions - Nature Physics
Abstract Irradiating a small capsule containing deuterium and tritium fuel directly with intense laser light causes it to implode, which creates a plasma hot enough to initiate fusion reactions between the fuel nuclei. Here we report on such laser direct-drive experiments and observe that the fusion reactions produce more energy than the amount of energy in the central so-called hot-spot plasma. This condition is identified as having a hot-spot fuel gain greater than unity.
New year, new expectations
Hello! Happy New Year to all Nigerians! The year 2023 has come to an end, and amidst the celebrations, Nigeria has been facing some challenges. These include double-digit inflation, a rising number of unemployed and underemployed individuals, an increase in out-of-school children, growing debt, insecurity, and slow GDP growth. The persistent inflation has also reduced the purchasing power of many Nigerians, leading to an increase in poverty.
Capturing the Concept Projection in Metaphorical Memes for Downstream Learning Tasks
Loading [MathJax]/jax/output/HTML-CSS/fonts/TeX/AMS/Regular/Main.js Metaphors are at the intersection of computational linguistics, cognitive science, and psychology. They are a type of figurative language that is different from literal language and are rhetorical devices applied to pieces of literal language resulting in an ‘emergent meaning’. Metaphors are different from other constructs of figurative language, i.e., sarcasm, irony, simile, satire, hyperbole, and humor.
Building a viable nation
“Someone once remarked that “it takes a generation of committed leaders to build a great nation.” Since the time of Adam Smith, political economists have known that the wealth of any nation isn’t a function of the affluence of its rulers, but of the productivity and industriousness of its citizenry. For a nation to be viable in an era of globalisation, it must build strong institutions and values that are necessary to sustain it in modern times.
The hope in strategy
Almost a decade ago, the article “Hope is not a Strategy” was presented in this column. The article you’re about to read is a revised version of that article. “Precisely in 2006, I was privileged to be one of the 53 participants representing 48 countries at a prestigious College in the USA. On this fine day, it was my turn to deliver a paper on a carefully selected topic that x-rayed the international environment and security challenges at the time.

Predicting COVID‐19 infection risk in lymphoma by immune monitoring
Introduction: Patients with B-cell lymphoma have poorer antibody responses to COVID-19 vaccines compared to patients with other malignancies. However, the immune responses are heterogeneous and its association with clinical outcomes are poorly understood. Here, we study the association between antibody and cellular responses with the outcomes from COVID-19 infection from the PROSECO study.

Shifting Trade Means Business Executives Must Rethink Supply Chain and Tech Integration
The past 50 years of expanding free trade improved living standards around the world and ushered in the age of the multinational corporation. Technology accelerated globalism, rewiring both businesses and economies across the globe. For decades, the calculus of finding the most efficient cost of labor dominated much of corporate boardroom thinking, and supply chains were extended into the furthest reaches of civilization.
'Wildcat' - Film Cred
Though its title may suggest a more traditional wildlife sanctuary narrative, Wildcat charts the visceral and literal intensities of survival in both man and animalkind. This documentary does deal with surface-level issues of animal rescue and rehabilitation, but it equally focuses on the severe post-traumatic stress felt by British military veteran Harry Turner.

Review: 'Three Thousand Years of Longing'
From sheepherding pigs and tap-dancing penguins to post-apocalyptic road warriors, Australian filmmaker George Miller has long imbued his work with fantastical elements. With his recent return to the Max Mad franchise in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)and upcoming projects like Mad Max: The Wasteland and Furiosa, Miller’s decade-spanning roots in the action genre continues.
Universal Abjection and Masculine Horrors in Alex Garland’s 'Men'
Alex Garland’s recent release of Men (2022) stands on contesting ground as the least critically received film in the writer-director and novelist’s acclaimed oeuvre of work. While Garland has dealt with horror/thriller genres and themes of challenging gender politics before, many critics were less favoring of this project, and have since aimed criticism at the narrative and its pretentious themes. Nevertheless, I find there to be interesting material in Men that deserves more attention.
Tonight Will Be the End of Meaning: Beyond the French New Wave in Jackie Raynal’s ‘Deux Fois’
Throughout its rich history of cinema, France has boasted an admirable number of female filmmakers. Household names like Alice Guy-Blaché, Germaine Dulac, Jacqueline Audry, and Agnès Varda often come to mind for the general film enthusiast. These formative women are salient figures in French film history, but just as important as these women are those of critical interest who are less acknowledged. Scholars and students will often discuss the works of Varda in relation to the French New Wave.
How a troubled Marine led a veterans court judge to confront his own survivor's guilt
Matt Stark* came home from war with an honorable discharge, a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and a bad case of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He was a tough guy — muscular, six-foot-two, 220 pounds — a decorated Marine whose life had fallen apart after he left the Corps. He was 32. Like many who stand before me in the courtroom, Matt had turned to methamphetamine. I was the judge presiding over his case in the Riverside County Veterans Court.

Substance-induced Disorders may be Incorrectly Supported
From time to time, we run into risk adjusted conditions that are “newly discovered” by coders without fully applying the diagnostic criteria. Those conditions are then suggested to providers, who may not be up on the requirements for the condition and who may report them incorrectly. As we’ve blogged countless times before, the goal of risk adjusted payments is to correctly fund the care of members with conditions that are costly today and for which future healthcare costs will be high.
Renewed 'Love' for Gaspar Noé
As a renowned filmmaker and provocateur of critical interest, Gaspar Noé is well known for his artistic infamy. Born out of a state-sponsored French film ecosystem that supports young, burgeoning artistic voices in the domestic film industry, Noé has received ample critical feedback on the provocative and transgressive content that typifies much of his oeuvre. Christened by the media as an enfant terrible, reception surrounding Noé has perennially been divisive — to his own personal enthusiasm.
