Interventional Mechanical Thrombectomy for Limb Salvage in Rapidly Progressive Phlegmasia Cerulea Dolens
1 Introduction Pelvic vein thrombosis represents a rare but potentially life-threatening form of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) [1, 2]. The most severe manifestation of acute deep vein thrombosis is phlegmasia cerulea dolens, a rare but potentially limb-threatening condition. Pathophysiologically, it is characterized by near-total or total occlusion of the venous outflow, including collateral networks.
S1P receptor 1 signaling reduces arterial thrombosis via up-regulation of endothelial thrombomodulin expression

Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) is a key mediator in the cardiovascular system with controversial effects on coagulation. We hypothesized that S1P reduces platelet adhesion and thrombus formation by up-regulating endothelial thrombomodulin (TM), an antithrombotic protein.

Aktuelle Kardiologie / Abstract
Investigation of hemodynamic bulk flow patterns caused by aortic stenosis using a combined 4D Flow MRI-CFD framework
Abstract Aortic stenosis (AS) leads to alterations of supra-valvular flow patterns. These patterns might lead to, inter alia, increased damage of red blood cell (RBC) membranes. We investigated these patient specific patterns of a severe AS patient and their reversal in healthy flow through a 4D Flow MRI-based CFD methodology. Computational models of subject-specific aortic geometries were created using in-vivo medical imaging data.
Rationale and design of RESILIENCE: A prospective randomized clinical trial evaluating remote ischaemic conditioning for the prevention of anthracycline cardiotoxicity
Introduction Anthracyclines, alone or in combination, remain the first-line therapy for many cancers, including various forms of lymphoma, breast cancer, leukaemia, melanoma, and uterine and gastric cancers.1 Every year, anthracyclines are administered to >3 million European citizens to treat a first cancer.

Risks of Diabetes-associated Comorbidities in Subgroups of Type 2 Diabetes
Guideline-directed Therapy in Clinical Practice: 2023 ESC Guidelines for the Management of Cardiovascular Diseases in Patients with Diabetes

Fine particulate matter: An underestimated cardiovascular risk factor?
In recent decades, industry has developed rapidly and forms the cornerstone of our modern society, enabling a comfortable life. However, damage to the environment was recognized very late, with some scientists predicting dramatic consequences if nothing changes. Nowadays, no topic is more present and controversial discuessed than climate protection. However, numerous researchers focus on the assessment of climate changes influencing human health, disease development, and progression.
