FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has released the cause of death of the woman who died after a fight at Tim Hortons in Fort Wayne in May. 75-year-old Anita Grayson’s death was caused by “acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure in the setting of physical altercation,” the coroner announced Tuesday. The manner of death was undetermined. Allen County Coroner, E. Jon Brandenberger, MD, explained the rulings to WANE 15.

FWPD: Enhanced downtown patrols on 4th paid off

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)— The Fort Wayne Police Department said on Monday that their extra officers and longer patrols curbed potential issues as crowds gathered downtown on the evening of July 4th. Sgt. Jonathan Cutler, the FWPD’s Public Information Officer, said those enhancements were made after last year’s downtown mass shooting in the early morning hours of July 5. It happened near The Landing less than two hours after the 2025 downtown July 4th fireworks show.

(WANE)— A fire on Fort Wayne’s southeast side left a house with heavy damage on Saturday evening. Fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 5200 block of Gaywood Dr. at 6:30 p.m. 911 received multiple calls about the fire and heavy smoke coming from the back of the house. Callers said there was one person inside the home when the fire broke out.
