WASHINGTON - Freed from having to toe the party line after losing a Republican primary, U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy last week expanded his list of GOP politicos he's criticizing to include Gov. Jeff Landry - one of the chief architects of his political downfall - for undermining a cornerstone of his campaign strategy. "I'm a little bit amused by my contributions not being acknowledged by Gov. Landry," Cassidy told local reporters in a teleconference press briefing.

WASHINGTON – U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said Tuesday afternoon that President Donald Trump agreed to drop his demands for $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization fund” to allow Republican leadership to shoulder through legislation to pay for deportations until 2030 without any restrictions on the federal officers carrying out immigration laws.

WASHINGTON - Given the recent chaos at the Federal Emergency Management Agency and last year's reorganization at the Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness, some are fretting about what happens if one of the two predicted hurricanes or tropical storms comes ashore in Louisiana this summer. "We don't know if FEMA is prepared," U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, said Friday.
